Re: What musical thang didja work on today/night?

Workin on music for a supernatural western film. :alien: sounds interesting. Thanks, just submitted the full score for this feature over the weekend (have been working on this for some time, as the film has been in post production awhile). I expect there will be some adjustments so technically not ...

Picked up a couple rack devices on the cheap... Emu Proteus 2000 and a Roland SDE 1000.

Re: Pre-Amps Rec's for Instruments and Mics?

when I record to machines like 388 or a3440 etc. - I'd usually want the opposite pre of warm/slow/syrupy something fast and snappy in the API style is my favorite as it compliments the characteristics of the format providing a good balance to digital is another story then I might reach for warm/slo...

Minimal Band/Composer/Studio Website

I’ve had a website forever but I feel like the hosting is overkill for my needs. I am not a band or a studio for hire, but I am a “minor league” composer with a couple film credits and some albums and remixes with various well known people which is why I feel like I should have some place holder out...

Re: TASCAM 388, won't record

This may sound redundant but to provide meaningful help vs shooting in the dark, Can you outline verbatim all of the steps you are taking to record and playback? Are you plugged into the headphone jack vs speakers, etc...tell us as much as you can.

Re: 500 series racks - how much power do I need?

Not to discount the Radial, but on the cheap the Midas L10 looks like a crazy deal. I have an L6 which is just fine for my needs. I like the easy chaining of channels (switch versus patching cables), and 10 year warranty is legit. 8) Do you think the internal switched power supply is a compromise? ...

Re: Tascam 388 right channel

So I just checked and yeah it's happening across the full spectrum. Just replaced the right bus fader but it didn't help. I'm going to try changing the master fader tonight to see if that helps. Any other thoughts? I've had pretty good luck trouble shooting but swapping parts, but this might be the...

Re: Tascam 388 right channel

To be clear, this problem appears on all channels? Mic, input, and remix mode? Through the headphone out AND the xlr outs? Here’s a wild card, i know you said you replaced the bus boards, but several times now i have come across bad faders on these causing weird symptoms like “bad channels.” Maybe t...

Re: Source For Used DAW Computers?

What you say makes a lot of sense. I live in the Seattle area but I keep checking Craigslist and I haven't seen anything like what you're talking about... which I find REALLY odd--which is why I posted here. Is there another place I should be looking for the machines you mention? ---JC With my empl...

Re: Source For Used DAW Computers?

With my employer I have used electronics recycling services, they come and pick up equipment from businesses and resell or scrap or recycle. The company I went with physically shreds the hard drives (yes). So what that means is you can often find obsolete server/workstation grade computers for almos...

Don't get too into those vids. They're just Earthquaker promo commercials. The participants probably had some incentives to do them.
If you take the time to watch the videos its obvious that Earthquaker products are not at all the focus.

Re: Reusing Tape

It depends on how old the tapes are, how they were stored, what brand/formula they are, how used they already are... Reusing tape in good condition is generally fine and normal practice except when you have a band with a massive recording budget...though you can't do it forever, in a home studio sit...
