Yeah I’ve been watching it all. I’m a big fan of Earthquaker pedals. They are far out sometimes :worthy:

Re: Tascam 388 - WEIRD buzzing issue

My advice, only slightly snarky...take all one spots and throw them away. Nothing but noise problems like this, in my experience. Get an isolated power supply and warts like this usually go away. Don’t know why it would only appear on track 5, perhaps something is not grounded anymore on one input o...

Re: Reducing noise from a vintage synth?

Yes that’s vintage synths for ya, especially the Polysix...never gonna be perfectly quiet. The obvious steps would be to turn off the chorus/ensemble effects (at least for testing), and then find the cleanest signal path (low vs high output setting, master volume l, vca gain) and optimize any outboa...

Re: Tascam 388 pan pot issue

I’ve only ever used deoxit so I would recommend trying that instead. But it’s also possible that you need to replace the pot.

Re: Reverb for Drums (Analog Tascam 388)

Hey folks I got an Alesis Wedge and I am running it through the effects send return of my 388. I’m getting lots of weird digital sounds hovering around above the effects especially when I adjust it down to a drier signal. Also When I totally dry out the signal or bypass it the dry tracks have a wei...

Re: acoustic meta-material

You jest, but as some flavor of a trumpet mute it might just work, no? I wonder if they could be configured into small cheerio sized units fashioned into curtains for windows or even hung just inside doorways, or placed inside or against doors, or as 4x8 sheets for wall installs. Like a lightweight...

Re: USPS doesn't consider Tape or Cassette for Media Mail

Yeah the retail USPS counter will always choose to argue about anything you try to declare as media mail, in my experience, which is why I have to print out and bring their official definition. https://about.usps.com/notices/not121/not121_tech.htm I have never shipped reels or cassettes, but I have ...

Re: Kinda like a modern take on the Tascam 388 in a lot of ways.

Yeah, I've still got my two as well, one with perfect heads and pretty much fully functional, one not I picked up for $150 that is a head lap and a repair away from working. I sent one’s heads off for relap last year, the other had both motors rebuilt. Replaced a bad fader in my studio one, and new...

Re: Kinda like a modern take on the Tascam 388 in a lot of ways.

When I first saw the model 24 I definitely thought 388. I totally get why they wouldn’t do a 388 for real again. But a digital match for the workflow and with CPU power what it is today, I feel like some sort of emulation would not be asking too much. I’ve still got my two 388s though, I’m dedicated.
