Blues Junior fix. One redplating power tube. solved
This amp blew one power tube a while back. I was just running it with one tube for a few months cause I liked how it sounded. Kind of the edge of meltdown down sound ala Neil Young Crazy Horse stuff. I finally opened it up today. About half the solder joints on the crappy PCB tube socket were loose ...

I scored this for free today. It doesnt sound too stellar but I popped the hood and was stoked to find about 20 62 Telefunken Ecc83s a handfull of GE 12au7s and a push pull 6 bq5 power amp. Looks like my hands will be busy with projects for quite some time. Super Stoked!

That jack next to the two wires is prob your audio out. And the eight pin plug was for some controls I assume. Unless you can find a schematic its hard to say what voltage it wants. Probably not alot because that filter cap is only 25 volts where the power is going in. Assuming that is the power wir...

Fairchild 8mm sound film projector tube amp section ideas
I picked up this projector for a couple bucks. Its pretty neat. The sound section has a 7025 12ax7A 6x4 and 6aq5 tubes there are two tape heads. Record and playback plus an overlay section. I was thinking. A- gut the film part and use the amp for recording with a couple mods a speaker would mount ni...

Sony F-32 cardioid condensor mic.
I picked one up today for 3clams at the goodwill. It appears to be from the 60's. Anyone know anything about these? I can find little to no info on em. Its switchable for voice/music and comes with a swively baseplate. Very sturdy. High impedance.

Tapes are alive and well
It's fun and cheap...so why not? Do what you enjoy, I say. There is a local label in town that does this and I think there is enough people with tape decks that will enjoy this stuff. I still have a dual tape deck in my stereo set up, and occasionally I'll throw something on there. Something you ma...

Nah, normal bias tapes won't hurt it. You'll find you get much better dynamic range out of high bias tapes however. Agree'd I have even busted the tabs out and recorded over old tapes I didn't want...it can be interesting. Once all I had to record on was an old analog telephone answering machine an...

Bad rectifier? Massive hum and no audio would be the result of that. Word! If you have a tester check your voltage after the rectifier diodes it should be some high DCV and no ACV. Also check the individual diodes for continuity...they should pass voltage one way but very little the other way... Al...

Re: 1960's Kustom K100 Amp - Trouble after repair - PSU Q's
Hey, I opened the amp to remove the deathcap and install the new grounded power cord, and I found a huge mouse nest (guess how long it's been since I've used this one). The vermin had eaten alot of the wires. After cleaning out the mess and repairing/replacing the affected wiring, I decided to inst...
