Thanks for the replies, everyone. I hadn't thought of re-amping, that'd obviously work, but ideally I need to find something that would work live. Ubertar, that sounds super interesting. We've tried three different pickups now with less than stellar results. I was thinking that a cello pickup that w...

Anybody have experience with cello pickups?

This may not be the best forum to ask, but maybe one of you have experience with this. I'm trying to record a cellist through a loud amp (V4) and fuzz pedal. It sounds great amp'd but as soon as we engage any sort of overdrive/distortion, the cello feeds back. I've tried noise suppressors but that m...

If you have a high ceiling, put it all the way up there and point it straight down at the snare drums. Sounds cool. 8)

Hey Jim, I've been messing with a lot of DIY stuff lately. Any particular model you'd recommend for the chi-com mic? I think I'd like to try this.

I have that same overpriced piece of shit mic stand. The fucking tip where the mic screws in fell off on mine. It appears that part is just glued in. WTF

I use Musicproinsurance. Had them for a couple year before I ever had to make a claim. Last month the headstock of my Les Paul broke off and they covered it for replacement cost with no fuss. I'm worried how my annual premium will go up when I go to re-up next year.

Pitchshifting with MIDI input?

I'm looking for a piece of gear that I'm not sure exists. I would like to take a sound (white noise, guitar loop, sample, etc.) and be able to change it to a specific pitch by pressing a note on a MIDI keyboard. So for example: white noise > analog in of pitchshifter I press F# on a MIDI keyboard pi...

Anyone know where I can mix an album around Boston?

Does anyone know of a studio around Boston that would allow a freelancer to rent the place for a few hours to finalize a mix? (Hopefully with reasonable rates.) I have a mix about 80% done but would like to be able to use some nicer outboard gear (Distressors and compressors) and finish it off at a ...

Mixing: knobs vs. mouse

Hey guys, I'm wondering: with advanced EQ programs like Waves H-EQ, why would anyone choose to mix via the typical 3 rotary knob EQ? Is there something I'm missing? I really like the Waves H-EQ and that's pretty much all I use to mix (on every channel, basically). I find it very flexible and very po...

What reamp device do you use/recommend?

I don't have any experience with these. Considering purchasing this one: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/4004 ... 4AodUw0AaA
