Re: The gear thread for people with no gear.

Behringer Tube Ultra-Q two channel EQ...I took out the cheap Sovteks, put in some Groove Tubes, and it actually sounds fairly decent. And my midi controller...Casio all the way, baby. Behringer Truth monitors, Cakewalk Sonar2, and the best mic I've ever used...Shure Beta 57.

Re: Modnern wrock: what's "wrong?"

Here you go...the nu-metal formula... start with...one drummer who beats the shit out of the cymbals...all the time mix with...one bassist with a five-string and a pick add...one guitarist, or even two, and make that guitarist play the progression of root-minor sixth, in a different key for each son...

Re: Behringer B-2031 studio monitors - Any good?

Yeah, I've got a pair of the truth monitors and they are good, especially considering the price. It might just be where I place them, but I find them to be a bit heavy on the midrange and light on the bass, but then again, I haven't really tried to tune them up either (you have some room compensatio...

Re: Fender 72 Telecaster Custom reissue?

I have a MIM Nashville tele...the one with three pickups, and it is better than the Highway 1 tele's I've played. $400...buy it.

Bass ala Yoshimi / Soft Bulletin

Howdy...a question on bass sounds...I'm recording a lot of music lately where I need the bass to really stand out on its own - sometimes synthed out but usually just straight up. I've got a P-bass with a vintage '62 pickup in it, going through an HHb Radius 50 preamp/comp, and get a decent, but some...

New Freakin Hampshire

Hi...I'm looking for anyone...anyone...in NH/Vermont interested in indie pop/rock writing and recording. On a good day it's Beach Boys circa 1968, on a bad day it's Beach Boys circa 1986, and always a good measure of noise thrown in. I have access to the recording studio at Dartmouth (at least, I th...

Re: David Kucinich for President

To that Libertarian guy...isn't the profit motive you all love so much the same motivation that fatcat CEO's have when they are screwing us all over, downsizing jobs and selling penions down the river? Isn't it the same motivation that got the American economy tied up in the Great Depression? Isn't ...
