There are still 23 days left in the year, what if the best is yet to come?

Once we get past my birthday (December 8th) the year is pretty much done for me. I just ride out those last few weeks.

I'd get a 4050. They sound great on everything and you'd be able to use it for a lot of stuff, even as your collection grows. Amen to that. The only alternative I might suggest (of things I've used extensively) is an Oktava mc012 with a Lomo M1 capsule. Between the Lomo and the three Oktava capsule...

I've had both the m2000 and the m-One XL and I totally agree - the M-One can get pretty close to the m2000 in certain areas. I really like both. I even like TC's cheap one - the m300? - as long as it's not doing too much heavy lifting.

Scott - there's a pretty awesome culture to this community. I'd seriously suggest copping to it or posting elsewhere.

In general you want to point across the body, not directly at it. And avoid the f-holes.
I went this route two nights ago - Beyer m69, in my case. Worked like a charm.

Yeah, it's definitely fun. So is the Soundtoys Decapitator. And Vintage Warmer can sound great when it's pushed.

*Amateur alert* i've mic'ed up an upright for live performance a grand total of one time, but it seemed to work: Oktava mc012 in omni, down near the bridge and off slightly to the side, and looking up toward the player. I'm sure there's a more tried and true way, but for what it's worth, this one wo...

Holy Spam, Batman! Guys, I know the track record here, and understand where the spam posts are coming from, but in this case the guy's talking about his own album, e.g., how he recorded it, what format, etc. Listen or don't listen, provide input if you'd like, and let's leave it at that. If it gets...
