Re: Universal Audio 2-610
Sorry for not making myself clear, I was just wandering if recording some instruments with the 2-610 and others with non-tube pres for the same song was sonically nice. People often come to the conclusion that you should use either one type or the other on the same song, not both. True????.... I've ...

Re: Universal Audio 2-610
Ok, the UA610 sounds great by itself, but how does it mix with solid state pres? Can one use both on the same track easily or not?

Re: Do you have PERFECT PITCH?
i have an EXTREMELY imperfect pitch. But I noticed over the years that i could visualize harmonies better and better from one chord relatively to the next. How do you call that? It's useful because I can play back most tunes from memory on guitar (rich Bossa Nova songs cause me more problems tough)....

I'm a graphic designer. Beside that I'm building a home-but-professional-sounding studio in my cave. I'll record both my music and others' there

Re: Small, incredible sounding records
It's a great album. As you say, the sound is thin but nice. If my memory serves me right there's not much low end. It is a totally unique kind of rock if you think about it retrospectively. I can't think of anyone else that used their great idea of soft punk minimalism after that. In a way it should...

Re: Radiohead's albums all mixed to blend together ingenious
i don't like Radiohead either. Although I find their last CDs more interesting to listen to with all these great sound textures and effects, i just can't stand Thom Yorke's moaning. And Godrich makes everything sound overcompressed.

Re: Empirical Labs Fatso
TapeOpAndy, as a Fatso user, what do you think this box adds to the whole 'tape versus digital' debate? How does recording through the Fatso compare to your experience of using tape? Is it a convincing substitute or just something very different which only makes digital recording more pleasing to th...

1:1 compression why?
I'm pretty new to technics like compression. On my only compressor (distressor), there's a 1:1 ratio. Why?

Re: Empirical Labs Fatso
Markpar,
now you've got the Fatso, what do you think of its "warmth" and "tranny" buttons? (I already have the Distressor so I'm more interested in these 2 options than its compression)
