Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

early 80's DOD FX60 chorus pedal. i've avoided getting a chorus pedal for a long time because to me it is the "80s sound" regardless of what it's put on. and i hate 80s music pretty much completely (i think i have a record from 80 and maybe one from 81, in my collection) due to the tonality and soni...

Re: tell me about your unusual recording spaces

i don't have a commercial studio. But i'm on a bass forum and a guy on there in seattle bought a pre-fab unit that he put in has backyard. it's a shed, but it's way too big to be called that. he then soundproofed it himself and had contractors do electrical and an acoustic door, as a drummer he did...

Re: Tascam 388 Stereo Inputs - Drum Machine

i echo David's thought that on 8 track a mono drum track is paramount. use those other tracks for synth fx and sweeteners.

Re: The Bad Plus

I always get them confused with Soulive, from my hometown, and also one of the members was formerly a denizen of this very TOMB. GJ really? they are like complete opposites. Bad plus is modern jazz (acoustic piano), Soulive is Soul-Jazz Organ trio funk. That's cool that Soulive is from buffalo thou...

Re: Kinda like a modern take on the Tascam 388 in a lot of ways.

i used to work there and had a 388 at the time, i suggested they remake a 388 or reel to reel even cassette portas again and all everyone upper level told me was that it would cost so much to make them the cost to the consumer would be so massive, it's not worth it, they wouldn't sell enough for a p...

Re: Surround Sound Thread

i didn't realize people actually did surround for anything other than movies anymore. thread derail: i love how audio keeps trying to break the stereo mold. first quadraphonic, then surround sound, what next? Some of my friends do surround sound remixes of huge albums: Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The M...

Re: What musical thang didja work on today/night?

only working on my own stuff now, recorded a demo last night of a song, it came together pretty quickly, electric piano, bass and drum machine is enough for the demo. i'll revisit it later when i'm trying to figure out how to compile everything into this record. for now i'm just getting the good ide...

Re: Power Amplifiers in 2019?

if you want small there is the stewart pa line. i have the PA-100 and used to have a PA-200. they are half rack, no fan, unit is a heat sink, does 200 watts at 4 ohms bridged, or 80/100 watts per side stereo. Small and cheap, but you can only find them used. usually around 75-100 bucks. if you're lo...
