Re: Complete list of Cassette Multi-Track Recorders and Portastudios

i've added all the variants. i'll probably post this to the cassette culture reddit as well for info. what really surprised me is that fostex made the most of anyone. i was always under the impression tascam did. tascam made the most variation of each (4 and 8 track) whereas fostex just pounded the ...

Re: Listening to music ... like this?

americans don't follow rules, it wouldn't work. some jackass in an american flag shirt mumbling bout "freedoms isn't free, costs folks like you and me..." and how he can do whatever he wants. that's why we can't have nice things.

Re: Who has used Ramsa boards?

i had a couple of ramsa boards. sounded great, clean and nice sounding preamps. the ones i had were the 8 channels ones, WR133 and WR130 i believe? EQ nothing to write home about, but for the money i paid (less than $100 per) it was well worth it.

Re: Need Help With DIY Diffuser Design...

Thanks all, I've already got some absorption panels from GIK, I just need to liven up a small room a little. As I said at the top, the typical DIY diffuser will just be too heavy for me to mount. I'm hoping my slimmed-down design will still help some but at a lighter weight but as I'm not an acoust...

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear, enlightenment, and yer mom, man

the grand will only get you piano sounds. a Stage or Electro (both available fully weighted hammer action) will get you electric pianos, organs, synths, etc. unless you ONLY want piano, i'd recommend against getting the grand.

Re: shedshrine build 3.0 - furniture, cats, gear, enlightenment, and yer mom, man

look for a used nord stage, nord electro, or korg stage sv-1 or sv-2. you can always update the samples to the latest versions so the model doesn't matter. nord are the industry standard board.

Re: Clip-On Tuners?

not trying to poo poo, but by design clip on tuners are not accurate. a pedal strobe will be accurate enough to do instrument setups and intonation. a clip on tuner is only good for one stage "close enough" tuning. if at all possible go to a pedal tuner. just compare specs on tuner accuracy and you ...

i've been jonesing for a Guild ever since i saw Sheryl Crow playing one! Guild's are IMO the most underrated guitars/basses out there. Such quality and craftsmanship (American too) for 1/3 the price of Gibsons.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

the most popular flats are the TI (Thomastik-Infeld) because they are the brightest, longest-lasting, and lowest tension (roundcore w/ silk underlay). However they are very expensive. Although with flats you basically never need to change strings unless you break one, so it could be a lifetime inves...
