I just bought a D A M fuzz pedal for more money than that guy paid for his Deluxe Reverb and 2 guitars (see post on previous page). Am I an idiot?

Isn't it awesome when you're listening to a guitar break and when the singer comes back in you can tell by the way he/she is singing that the solo was sooo good it inspired them to push their performance? I am thinking specifically about the solo by Peter Green in "Your Funeral, My Trial" by the Blu...

I agree...it doesn't seem too over blown. Certainly not as bad as I thought it was going to be when I read your post.

But I understand about "evolving" or "more maturity" when it comes to sounds. I remember some of the guitar sounds I used to try to get and I think I must have been crazy!

There's a well-written piece in the new Atlantic abouth this same subject by Jon Fine of Bitch Magnet. Post-Ramones show was the most frightened I had ever been for my ears. After that, almost the first thing I ever did upon entering a club was to go the the men's room, grab some toilet paper, and s...

Tape Deck Orientation

I've been lurking on the forum for awhile and am a regular reader of Tape Op, and I have never heard this topic discussed before. I track to a Tascam TSR 8. Those units have rubber feet on the "bottom" and on the "back" of them, so that it is possible to orient the tape deck either perpendicular or ...

Don't know what to tell you as far as makers go, but I have found I like flat rides, or rides with very little bell, when it comes to recording them. They tend to decay (or "get out of the way") quickly. I don't actually have one right now, but it is on my short list of gear to get.

My bottom end needs help. Hopefully this will get me heading in the right direction.

I also once bought some tape that had to much tape wound onto the reel for my machine to handle it..It made my deck behave in much the same way it sounds like yours does.

I am totally out of the box with a TSR 8. I would LOVE to have 8 more tracks. I hate having to bounce drums. If it all specs out $800 seems like a good buy.

I would hate to have to truck something like that around, though.

There are sooo many great things to hear all over that record. I love the sound of the horns..or, more specifically, the performance. I think it's a GREAT example of a take that may be "ragged" but totally right for the song ( to steal a line from George Jones). Did Curtis do the arranging on that r...
