Listen to Neil Young's Harvest. It's one of the all time 70's classics despite being totally weird and disjointed and very obviously from 4 or 5 very different sessions. I'm going with Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion I & II. I realize they were released as two albums, but my understanding is that they were originally recorded to be a double album.
