Least expensive would be a Coles 4071 stand adapter, which would plug into the bottom and can mount on stand, with a pigtail to your XLR.

Any Coles dealer should be able to get one.

The first run of mics had a really thin ribbon, more like 2 micron. It was just poorly made. No where near the corrugation it should have had, and very poor tolerances. But it did a cool thing. After spending some time with that first run, and dealing with the subsequent runs, that is what set the d...

and the XLR connector gets in the way of the yoke in some positions. Live and learn, it's still a nice mic. Indeed! I've seen so many versions of that mic with XLR hanging off the back. Every time I see it it makes me laugh out loud and facepalm! :D Those blue mics were the very first run. I listen...

I offlined the support side to PM, so as not to clutter the thread. I tend not to try retensioning old ribbons, as the sagging ones are usually from overseas where it's not worth it (the tolerances are so poor that there's no point, a properly made and tensioned ribbon is the right solution), or for...

It was a Ebay buy what sounded off when I rec'd it; when I opened it up, chrome was peeling off the magnet and rubbing the ribbon. When I tried to remove the chrome, I damaged the ribbon. I gave the seller a bad review - he hadda know - but couldn't return because of my aborted repair attempt. That...

... Shiny Box 43L currently using aluminum foil (like, for the BBQ foil). Why would you do that, when you could send it in and have it made better than new? I have an Altec birdcage mic that is completely in pieces, and looked like it had been sitting on the bottom of the ocean when I received it. ...

Yeah, figure-8s would not be my first choice for overheads in a room with a low ceiling. I've read that a few times on the interweb, but that hasn't been my experience. I'd hate to have it become like the phantom power and ribbon mics thing. I did an EP in a tiny room above a garage (maybe 8.5' cei...
