It would be hard to demo the B&Ws and they are a hi-fi passive speaker that really need a good power amp to shine
the Kalis have been the talk of the town recently and are designed amplified and adjustable to different placements and more easy to demo
so check em out !

Re: Monitor dilemma
everyone seems to love the Kalis and the price is right
the best speakers you can get for the budget you stated is what Scott recommended - they'd benefit from a better power amp but you can save up and add in the future

Re: 388 Dumping to Digital? What do I need?
24/96 is good for tape capture as it retains a lil more detail 388 tape outs are RCA unbalanced - so you'll want an interface that's compatible - get one that has 8 1/4" unbalanced ins make or purchase an 8 channel RCA to 1/4" snake as short as possible with quality cable n jacks - this will prob m...

Re: Printing An Effect To Its Own Tape Track
with a 388 hells yea..I'd likely use a Behringer exciter to combat the dullness of the format and get a thicker tone - I guess just watch out for it being too harsh of a setting and figure out a way to compare it where the A/B volumes are equal so you don't get tricked into "louder is better"

Re: Printing An Effect To Its Own Tape Track
that's how most people do it - just buss to another track one thing I've learned is that what people say does not always correlate with what sounds the best to me I try every option and see what I like the best the verb on another track no matter how you do it is objectively more versitile in that y...

Re: Printing An Effect To Its Own Tape Track
I definitely like the reverb on a different track - I think you're right for wanting that I like to not use any of the regular drum mics for the reverb and use a separate one that's micing the closest wall to the drums and run that through the reverb 100% wet - or more often I don't use a reverb at ...

Re: New Orleans style horn section
We'll be in a decent size studio with a big room, so I'd like to do live horns and nothing MIDI. great if you can pull it off then go for it ! I'll say don't discount augmentation with midi - actually try it - and compare the song with and without - it's cheap and easy to do and has the potential t...

Re: moving from huge live room to small one
Scott MSE I think is dealing with this at the moment he's a good person to ask Im 100% sure you can come up with creative solutions to make it work it's scary in a sense but a lot of fun if you look at it the right way I like a tight small drum space in combination with another room set up as an ech...

Re: AML ez1073?
the kit looks like it would cost just under $700 with VAT and shipping crazy good if it sounds like a 1073 looks like it doesn't have a DI and that's prob one of my fav things about that style of channel strip I was referring to this one: http://www.audiomaintenance.com/acatalog/aml-17-038_extended...
