Yeah, I've tried messing with the little mixing board that controls the audiofire and I can mute the input through that but then I can't hear it through logic at all.

Logic 8- Can't mute mic input- Why?

I'm running Logic 8 on a macbook pro through an Echo Audiofire 8. This is a new system for me so it could be something really simple that I am overlooking. No matter what I try, I can't get mic inputs 1 or 2 to mute. It passes signal even when the track is not armed, when input monitoring is off, wh...

Boss Pedals: fixing on/off switch

Damn Boss pedals. I think I now have 3 of them with unreliable switches that don't like to always turn on or off when you step on em. Especially lame is when I go to take a guitar solo and my Metal Zone doesn't turn on with the first click. Turns what should be a guitar solo into a tap dancing solo....

Uh-oh... Can't bounce to disk

So I'm working on mixing down a 4 song demo type thing. Last night I try the bounce to disk command in Pro-Tools LE, and it looks like its going to work fine but at the end of the process I get an error message. something along the lines of: "could not perform operation because your drive is fragmen...

Importing reference CD into session ???

I'm using protools LE on a mac and I'd like to check some mixes against some of my favorite cd's.
So what's the proper procedure for getting the cd into the session ?
Its gotta be stupidly simple.

Some of my best scores: Beyer m500 - $ 10 at a pawn shop. 1940's Vega archtop electric tenor guitar - $ 139 at a pawn shop. Not one but TWO Yamaha cp-70 electric pianos - Free ! from a music store that didn't want them taking up space in their tiny store. "If you haul 'em away today they are yours "...

CB mics- can they be wired to xlr ?

I find CB mics at thrift stores all the time. And I'd like to wire one up to use in the studio. I picked one up for a dollar and it has a push-button on/off switch. The connector looks kind of like a 1/4 inch phone jack but its more narrow and has a tip, 2 rings, and a sleeve so 4 wires inside that ...

Digital Piano recommendations

My younger brother is a piano student (classical). And I'm trying to help him find a good digital piano to practice on. His apartment is too small for a real piano and also he wants to be able to practice with headphones and not disturb the neighbors. So we're looking for something that has weighted...

Excellent. I think this thing sounds pretty cool on bass. I've yet to try it out on kick drum yet but by all accounts it works well there too.

And yes it is Mike Shank. One of my heros ! I still need to track down the cd he recorded.
