Cool. Let's do it. Scodiddly - Whistle Down the Wind Magnetic Services - Earth Died Screaming mjau - I Want You (maybe, I don't know...) Altor - vvv - I'd be happy enough to do that... but maybe we could bam it up a notch somehow? Maybe do one song as a collaboration or something? Or more than one ...

We did that a few years back, but I'd be up to do it again.

Any kind of theme, like doing a particular era or album?

Those caddies are kind of valuable these days since they don't make them anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could find somebody who'd transfer all the data for you in exchange for the caddy and drive.

Very cool!

The obvious answer to a single-ended input is a transformer.

One of the new kids at work is a huge Primus fan. So I've been hearing more Primus than usual lately. I do still like that early album with all the classic songs on it, but it sure doesn't sound that good. I'm told that the first three albums were recorded on ADAT, which is why it sounds so thin. I ...

A fair number of "at risk in 2016" people have written books already, some more than a decade ago. Joe Jackson's is pretty funny, as is John Lydon's. And I did enjoy the Keith Richards one a fair bit too.

Maybe a P-bass pickup would work for cello. Comes in two 2-string sections, so you can set the curvature as you like. I recall seeing an upright bass with that approach.

Truth be told, I've been wondering for a bit now when the day would come. Moderators were informed by management a few months ago that the message board would eventually be closed & archived; available for reading but closed to new content. I agree. It's gotta be a lot of work to maintain, for the r...

The main tapeop.com page seems redesigned a bit, so maybe that's what's going on?

Audio cable doesn't have, or need, a characteristic impedance like antenna cable. That's because the frequencies aren't high enough for that to even remotely matter.

A way to measure AC power harmonics and noise in the audio band. It's a 9v wall-wart into a voltage divider to knock the voltage down, from there into either a laptop interface and Smaart software, or an iPhone and a spectrum analyzer app.

Best bet is just to temporarily replace the capsule with another - Panasonic WM-61 or whatever the current version might be. Take some careful dimension measurements and you can probably find a direct replacement capsule without too much difficulty.
