Hey drumsound, why not record mid and side to two tracks only and simply mult the side signal coming off tape at a patchbay mult, flipping polarity on the copy? That way you can monitor it from the get go without having to eat up the third track on tape.

I do have peak align on. It's not 180 degrees out. I'm talking about very small differences here. The samples will come back with a pretty small tolerance--probably twenty samples or less--but it's enough for me to hear. Man, I'd love to pick one of these up to make a pair, but I bought too much stuff recently and don't have the cashish. I have a Red R4 omni cap (Neumann M50 reference) and a bunch of 451 bodies I'd trade. I also have a number of AKG A51 swivel adapters. I figure it's a shot in the dark.
