Hey drumsound, why not record mid and side to two tracks only and simply mult the side signal coming off tape at a patchbay mult, flipping polarity on the copy? That way you can monitor it from the get go without having to eat up the third track on tape.

Yeah, it was a veritable treasure trove of 451. I have a pile of bodies and I was after more CK1 caps and they always sell for way too much without bodies (and bodies sell poorly on their own), so I figured I'd go crazy. Plus I wanted a shotgun cap. I was planning on flipping some of the stuff to so...

If atavacron doesn't want them all, I may be interested in trading for one or two of the pads. I just won an auction for a bunch of 451 stuff and I'm moving some of it on. I'll probably be getting rid of: CK2 omni cap (x1) CK5 cardioid (x2) CK22 omni (x1) Red R4 omni--Neumann M50 reference (x1) I al...

The null test would put this thing to bed one way or the other. We need to make this happen.

It should be simple enough to do a null test. Take a repeatable source through the cable in one direction then reverse the cable and do the same; line them up in a DAW, flip polarity on one and if the signal nulls: voil?--bullshit. Anyone with one of these supposed directional cables care to try thi...

It's strange that disabling peak align would help me align the peaks, but I'll play around with that. My only qualms about the tab to transient version of accomplishing this task is that the sample replaced version won't be following the dynamics of the original take. I worked out a system to get th...

I do have peak align on. It's not 180 degrees out. I'm talking about very small differences here. The samples will come back with a pretty small tolerance--probably twenty samples or less--but it's enough for me to hear. I took the time to tighten up one track by hand and it certainly sounded better...

How to achieve sample accurate drum replacement

I'm not one to use drum triggering on a regular basis, but I am on my current project. I'm wanting to blend my sample with the acoustic sound and that's where my problem lies. I'm using Sound Replacer and I'm noticing that it's not sample accurate. I hear the replacement and original phasing to vary...

I can't say I buy into any of this haunting stuff. I spent Halloween at one of the most evil places in America--according to some accounts--and I can't say I was the least bit rattled. A friend of mine owns the Exorcist House in St. Louis and has a party every year. I spent a bunch of time in the ro...

Man, I'd love to pick one of these up to make a pair, but I bought too much stuff recently and don't have the cashish. I have a Red R4 omni cap (Neumann M50 reference) and a bunch of 451 bodies I'd trade. I also have a number of AKG A51 swivel adapters. I figure it's a shot in the dark.
