I'll be back for more tape-opping. I will be alone, however. Is there a stag rock and rollers group?

I have been using shure cartridges from http://www.needledoctor.com/ . I have had a cheap one and now I use a farily expensive needle. I don't change them too often, but I bought both so I could listen to how they sound. A lot of the material that I record ends up on vinyl, so I am able to hear the ...

this is for the original post from supafuzz, I laughed hardily when I read that as well. I must admit though, 40 or 50 pieces of gear? That must be a good studio!

I think the terms that we use in the studio are all relative anyway. Just like the way that our control rooms sound completely different from one another's, the defenition of a word in that instance will inherently be different. Now, more boompity - boomp- boomp, then start-a-rocking the guitar real...

I know that in most studios the important audio equipment always stays on. consoles have no such power switch, neither does high end studio gear- like you lunch box. Please correct me if I am wrong. The electronics may perform better and last longer if they are always in a single state, more so than...

I though you said "not to be a dick"! I am just kidding with you Larry Crane! I get the picture. What about a group of local recording engineers and producers from my town, that would surely meet the prerequisite, yes no?

For me, the recording mags that I read each month keep me up to date on the new gear and they show different techniques in action. TapeOp is rad because it shows you very different aspects of the recording world. The information from those mags may only matter when you are interested in purchasing a...

TapeOpCon group?? anyone interested?

I read that there would be a discounted rate for a group of attendees. Has anyone thought about doing this yet? I sure would like to get a group going. Maybe we have to start with a theme of the group, like "the ground-up group" who have all started their studio from scratch. Or the "001 double agen...

You could start by using a meter to see what the voltages are on the output of the power supply. be careful or bring you psu to a tech who could read them for you. That way you would know what typr of psu to buy, if you don't want to go with the oktava model.

I have a Hill J Series, and I can't find a darn thing about it! I only know that it sounds incredible! At one point in time I emailed a company in the UK that claimed they had a schematic for it, however they would never actually sell me a copy, the guy who takes your credit card info was always "si...

The back of my HHB stuff says made in England, the initials on the inside don't look like japanese characters! I just looked at the inside of my radius 50 and 30, the pc boards are both labeled TL Audio. Go for it!

5 pin jacks are the full featured buggers. You want those in your bay. The jacks are for [2] hot, [3] neg., and [1] ground, then [4] hot shunt and [5] neg. shunt. ground doesn't have a shunt because one would usually (normally!) wire a ground buss wire onto the jacks that need to be normalled. for i...
