This thread got me looking around the innernets, and according to Cakewalk (in their info on Sonar 7) Sonar has always had delay compensation. However it appears there have been problems with the UAD plugs. Here's a link to a Gearwire vid showing how to fix that in Sonar 6. http://www.gearwire.com/s...

I too am enamored with Elixers. BUT I prefer the 80/20 Nanowebs. The nano, while thinnner coating, do still last a long time (usually around 2-3 months for me) and they do not give me the 'dead' sound of many other coated strings, including the elixer polywebs. I do find them to be chime-ey (not in ...

Another satisfied Sonar user. I just moved from 4 to 6 producer edition and I like it a lot. The bus routing is super easy, and with #6 they made the plugin organization better, and producer edition has a multiband paragraphic eq on every track with it's own visual display too, so no need to open a ...

According to Al Kooper, in his fantastic book "Backstage Passes" which has now been re-printed, combined with another book of his, on the first Blood, Sweat and Tears album they made the drummer insert a very small mic anally and drummed on his stomach with his hands on one song. I really recommend ...

Dynamic mixing seems to be more important than ever now that the mixes are getting crushed at the final stage. It probably is getting cliched, but there are a limited number of ways to make the current forms of music sound dynamic while being super squashed. Bingo. I think this sums it up. And as a...

In a recent interview, Bill Bottrell theorized that in the not too distant future, recordings will exist almost solely as 'business cards' whose purpose will be to promote live music performances. What a novel idea. Me thinks it's already getting like that.

A friend of mine also used Carl Saff recently. He's certainly affordable and what I've heard sounded good.
