I Second that! They are a huge pain to make. I wanted a set that dress nicely to the side for direct outs and line returns from my apogee boxes... I got them done and they work perfectly, but it was a whole weekend long project because you have to take breaks to rest your eyes after staring at that ...

Day jobs

My first career was actually full-time engineer. It paid pretty well for a small suburban Philadelphia recording studio, but the money ran out and one by one we all got cut loose... Then I worked for Sonic Reality / IK Multimedia for a year.. Tuning and tweaking samples. Made some Reason Refills and...

Venue training...

I would inquire with Future Media Concepts in NYC...they run digi classes, even if they don't teach Venue, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Grace vs True systems

Having used all the different grace units and the p8 from True systems: I'm fairly confident in saying Grace all the way. Cleaner at any gain setting and built a good deal better.

Also, great company to deal with for support.

How much?

...uh, all of it. All the moneys... But seriously; I think there's $20k worth (all paid for) here in my current studio and about $22k of gear spent on my old studio that all got sold to try and pay off the debt I incurred while trying to start said 'old studio'... Ps: that old studio ended in chapte...

You say you pursued the warranty with the shady vendor. Have you tried H/M directly? Alternatively, browse the fender repair aisle at the auto parts shop. JBWeld is the first thing that comes to mind, there may be something similar that's even better. Hey The Scum, I did actually give them a holler...

Ideas

Hey all, Thanks for the ideas... I should have taken pics first... But last night I filled the plastic molding with loctite epoxy, and it seemed to dissolve and bubble-up the plastic into a thick froth. I screwed the metal receiving thread into the froth... Scooped out some excess, and I'm letting i...

Pro Tools 9 (running on Apogee Symphony).. minor issues

Hey all, Just throwing this up there; I finally pulled the trigger and grabbed PT9 to use with my Apogee i/o. Currently using it with the AD-16x / DA-16x, and with an old M-audio ProFire 2626 strapped across the optical in/outs for 8 more i/o on the system. If I were using my studio for paying clien...

Need Philly studio to record 7 piece band (hopefully live)

Hey all, I'm out in the burbs of Philly, and I need to setup a location to record a friend's band. They're a jam-band / funk band with a horn section. I think there are about 7 full-time members to the band. They gig a lot, and have scratched together a modest budget for an album project. What we'd ...

Summing test- Toft atb-16

Hey all, I have been fumbling with setting up my Toft console as a 16 channel summing unit, and i think I stumbled onto something simple/stupid that I did in my initial setup. My first attempt at calibrating the small faders included me setting my daw to output a 1K sine to each of my monitor channe...

Just a little add-on thought

Hey all, I'm scarcely a qualified acoustician, but I do remember some details of when we built our studio outside Philly. It was designed by John Storyk, and there were a few things that I remember thinking "wow! I wouldn't have thought of that, but it makes sense...". One was the studio glass; he s...
