i agree with most of that but while you were typing i wrote up this - shit i know i just woke up and i'm not all there yet but i could barely get through the first 1/3 of that. i'm not a programmer so that is a pretty heavy read after the first few paragraphs. but it did make some things clear. firs...

the scheme didn't say the entire supply was external? if your new supply doesn't provide a regulated +/-12VDC when all is said and done then what i said doesn't apply. and the only thing that matters then is that you don't use less then the chips will need to run. there could then be tuning issues b...

yeah what andy ( and refd said about tuning ) basically. but the rouge regulators are rated at 12V so with an 18VAC supply you are fine. you are still feeding them the minimum +3V over so there should be no ill effects and tuning should be fine as well. just make sure you have the right amperage. st...

well in the end i'll make a point to make it very simple but with options. if its worth it i can even do a run of pcb's to make it even easier. its already drawn up but it may be rather intimidating right now so i'll post it after i have it tested a bit and cleaned up. lots of extra's though and an ...

well its kind of tough to make suggestions i can stand by ( without actually testing them out myself ) but drop R1 to 1M, then add a 100k to ground right after C1, and then right after R2 the line connecting to C2 and the fet? clip that and try adding a 100k pot there to give yourself a threshold co...

yeah. i guess i forgot to mention that, and to be honest if it were not for possible oddness between the power supplies you could have done it this way to begin with without needing the buffer because you are using the buffers on the board. but if one supply ran higher then other or spiked and you w...
