Racking a G5

Can anybody recommend me a good soundproof rack that will fit a G5 Mac?

I'm probably looking at 12 (or less) rack spaces needed.

Thanks.

I would seriously consider getting the new MacBook, as it is really that much faster, and the price is not that much higher than getting a G4. They are muuuuuch faster. -H I agree, the new macbooks are sweet! Unless the old ones drop drastically in price or you just can't afford the new one, I woul...

Re: help thread: Fixing the oldest clocking mistake in the b

Simply make a new session (at 44.1) with the name of the song, and 44-1 in the title (so you dont get confused AGAIN). Go to "import tracks" under the file menu. Great advice Joel! I'm sure this problem has happened to all of us at some point. One thing i noticed though was you said " Go to "import...

Thanks sonikbliss, How do I consolidate my audio files so they have the same start time and why is that necessary? -AE Edit>Consolidate Selection (shift+option+3) Make sure you have all the audio files selected with the same start time. Basically the reason for doing this is so that when you import...

And what about the 'under a gig' g4 ibooks, good for audio apps? Better than a limping dual 500 powermac? I don't know that the improvement would be all that significant with the 'under a gig' g4 ibooks. Another available option is a processor upgrade for your powermac, though that really isn't ide...

The new Macbooks (Intel iBook replacement) are supposedly coming out sometime this month (possibly as early as this Tuesday). I would wait until they are released and then snag an older iBook as their prices drop. As far as an interface, the MOTU Traveler has gotten great reviews, Also they just cam...

This website's getting old. All you guys talk about is getting more gear, and how much you like some washed up has-beens who made some corny music decades ago. To be honest, I don't even really like this magazine that much anymore. I find about a page or two that appeals to the way I do music, and ...

Look at the digidesign 002rack. About 1k and will give you eight ins out of the box. 4 pres and 4 line in. then you can just take your stuff you have recorded to a studio and enhance. Easy way to go. Mike PTLE is probably not the best choice for anybody who wishes to work with sound for video. He'd...

Maybe try something like the Motu Traveler with Logic. If you or a friend is a student, you can get a huge discount on Logic from the Apple Store. This would form the basis of a very nice portable rig and probably cost you less than $1500, leaving some $$$$ for a few other items; pres, cables, mics....

How many tracks do you need to be able to record simultaneously?

Also, since you mentioned that you already have a computer, are you looking to get a new one for your rig or does a computer not factor into the $2500 budget?
