Re: HELP. active vs. passive bass record

active pups can sound pushy and twangy..unnatural. hard to explain. I hate them. plus its kindof weird to ask someone with a $1100 Stingray to 'change your batteries'. Convince him they suck you should be ok. with that said, sometimes they fit. really funk-metal stuff works nice with actives. ala Flea

Re: My next mic purchase

yes big ol RE-20s. I like them on bass amps. Ive only used them once. a great mic for radio. never tried them on overheads...check my poster. also notice that vocal-type mic on the bass drum. Sm58 ish? same deal. something about dyanmic mics as overheads just leaves me a little spooked out tho. http...

Re: What's the difference:"talent" vs. "chari

well one thing is for certain. a person who holds back will never display their talent. someone who doesnt try things and doesnt try to be a leader usually wont look like they care.so in that sense, sure.

Re: I forgot how amps pick up radio signals

badly shielded cables can do this too. Poor soldering jobs as well. bad grounding between the outlet.sometimes it's just the internal electronics getting 'birdies' from stations. if this is the case, you cant do much.this happens with really cheapo amps..It's really bad if the Tx is nearby. Commeric...

Re: can someone please give me the definition of Class A?

Class-D. digital in a sense. but thats all I know..this is also rare. rare in pro audio likely, but not rare at all in the rest of the world. Class D amplifiers have the highest practical power efficiency, so they are used in new battery powered stuff. Like cell phones, some mp3 players, etc... i.e...

Re: Guitar recording question

Panned apart, its basically a very neat way of adding 'depth'. Itll still sound like one, but much more open. Panning is everything.
Oh, and flip the phase. If you dont, youll probably want to jimi hendrix your guitar into your DAW or tape deck or w/e

Re: can someone please give me the definition of Class A?

Desinging a circuit that is running in class A any given percentage of the time just means that as a designer you've chosen a mode of operation that has advantages and disadvantages both of which need to be taken into consideration to get the most "pristine audio quality" out of the circuit which o...

Re: crappy cables

bad cables can make things sound horrible, but not a very obvious way(usually). Phase, noise, harmonics..that kindof stuff.. I would be willing to bet the soundcard is the main issue, though. But never cheap out on bad cables, especially when your using good stuff.

Re: can someone please give me the definition of Class A?

.What the signal flow? wrong. class-A always has a continuous signal, its part of its guts. Soundwise? well, of course that it varies, plus people have very strong opinions (no shit, welcome to audio!) but this is a Class-A vs. Class-X (B, A/B, D)...as if we had the same pre build..so theoretically,...

Re: can someone please give me the definition of Class A?

Basically class A has a continous signal ALWAYS flowing. the result is more pristine audio quality. the downside is it tends to be less efficient. Leave a bunch of class A pres on all day, your power bill will be significantly higher than a few B or AB. thats true. but if your buying a class-A anyth...
