Re: Latest Gear You've Un-Acquired....

Thinking (just thinking mind you) of unloading a 60's Kent sound-hole pick up (the middle class man's DeArmond) and my Sennheiser 602.
I just got a lovely late 70s DeArmond sound-hole humbucker and I never fell in love with the 602.

Re: Check in Thread

these little "getaways" where we explore the world around us has been nice. I grew up in this city and I'm seeing all kinds of stuff that I never knew existed. If this sounds AT ALL interesting to you, I HIGHLY recommend it. Chris Garges Charlotte, NC I've been doing something similar here but on f...

I decided to go ahead and order a 1588C for the sake of comparison. I'll report back on any perceptible differences.
One of them provides 12volt phantom (or T power maybe). Not sure which one or if there are any other differences.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

A 1588B octal mic pre to plug into the back of my Altec 1612A Limiter. I'm not sure how much I'll end up using it, but it was cheap enough & takes up no additional rack space. Ribbon to 1612 = killer drum room. Squash to taste. It's also a very cool vocal chain. Mine is also set up with mic and lin...

Re: Check in Thread

Me too. That said, this thread is to important to derail. Back to the topic at hand......... In spite of our (maybe) more civil public discourse and temperament Canada is not innocent when it comes to systemic racism, police brutality and political stupidity. Our country is a product of British colo...

He’s an old friend. We don’t see each other much these days now that my touring days are done and he’s doing it less. He and his wife Christine are two of my favourite people in the whole world. I was lucky enough to be an auxiliary Weakerthan on their Reconstruction Site North American tour. It was...

Re: Check in Thread

As my good friend John Samson used to tell the American kids after ever show - America needs you to stay home and fight to fix things.
That's was back after Bush got elected again and all the liberal people were talking about moving to Canada. It's more important now.

Re: Coronavirus Health Precautions for Studios

There’s an interesting discussion over on the PRW Production forum about this. Normally I wouldn’t link to a different forum but there’s some valuable info there from folks running lager scale operations than many of us. A few posters lay out the difficulties and risks better than I could - https://...

Thanks. She's doing alright. We're 5 years in and she's stable and healthy. I'm eternally thankful for Canadian healthcare and the fact that we live 10 mins away from one of the world's top cancer research hospitals. Things could be worse. That said though, no sessions at my place for who knows how ...

Re: Coronavirus Health Precautions for Studios

I'm starting to get into the same situation here. Recording studios were permitted to reopen last week and I've already had some calls about it. I'm in no rush at all though. My room (a repurposed garage) is too small to effectively distance and the washroom facilities are in my house. Beyond that, ...

Re: DI bass and guitar

That Ext Amp jack is a bit odd - certainly when seen from the perspective of today, with our TRS "insert points" that are an input and an output hidden on one plug. That Ext Amp isn't one of those. It's just a point in the heart of that circuit between the preamp and power amp. If you plug into it,...

My tech is saying that I only need a stereo cable to connect to the EXT AMP out and then one of the L or R will provide the connection at the other end.
Interesting. It's running like an insert connection then.
