Re: Using reverb to differentiate lead and backing vocals

It's all over the place for me. Frequently there's one reverb and the lead gets a pre-delay before hitting that. Sometimes it's different versions of the same reverb with different decay times and eqs. If the back ups are fairly tight harmonies of the lead I'll sometimes leave them dry, turn them do...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

More gobos (built rather than acquired). I feel like I can never have enough......except when trying to store them when they're not in use.

Re: Bass Plugins

i typically hate DI for bass but unless something is broken, I've never thought it was lacking in low end. My thoughts exactly. I'd take a mic on an amp any day of the week. I find I have to do so much to get what I want out of a straight DI signal where as an amp does 90% of the heavy lifting. Tha...

Re: power conditioners, i know i know i know

Not a power conditioner but if you want the single switch Hammond makes a 19" single space power bar with a switch on the front panel. I've had good luck finding them at local electronic surplus stores for about $20 each.

Just picked up a Ronroco (baritone charango). Getting my head around the tuning and chord shapes is a challenge but it sure sounds cool.
That brought me down a wikipedia wormhole.
Me too!

Re: electrovoice 635A

I tend to blow it up and then sneak it in under the regular kit mix. A little goes a long long way and it's not as good on cymbal heavy tunes.

Re: electrovoice 635A

I haven't used mine that much in a while but there was a time that it ended up everywhere on my sessions. These days I have other omni dynamics that I like more for specific applications. It's a good drum crotch mic. Running it in to an overdrive pedal on the way to tape is even better. It can also ...

Yep. It just means I can switch pick-ups on the fly without having to hit the pedal.

Re: Onboard Guitar Pre-Amps/Boosters

Just received and installed an Artec QTB on this thing. It's pretty great so far. The boost is wired between the bridge pick-up and the switch. I eliminated the middle position on the switch (because the active and passive pick-ups don't combine very well and I never use that position on any guitar)...

Re: Onboard Guitar Pre-Amps/Boosters

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up pulling the trigger on an Artec 5 position booster. I'm hoping to set it for the right amount of boost to level out the pick ups and then bury it and the battery in the cavity where the middle pick-up used to be. I'm waiting for it to ship. Will report back onc...

Re: Vocal Mic Bleed

Cardioid can be a pretty wide pattern depending on the mic. Fig 8 has the best rejection of any pattern followed by hyper cardioid. The problem with cardioid in this application is that it's null is at the back of the mic. That makes it pretty hard to aim it at your mouth and have the guitar in the...
