Re: Complete list of Cassette Multi-Track Recorders and Portastudios

I realize the following is very Tascam-centric, I had a Yamaha at one point that was very good as well. a Tascam Portastudio 488 modded with 8 direct outs Doesn't show how to do it, but a cool mod. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/c48/shedshrine/Screen_Shot_2020_08_31_at_6.06.47_PM.png?width=1...

Re: Khruangbin

get "the universe smiles upon you" or "Con todo el mundo". those are their best. 99% instrumental. the guitarist is like jimi hendrix meets world music. that first record (universe) he is channeling Thai funk music and it's F'ing awesome. "the Universe Smiles" is the one I've been digging. So tasty!

Barefoot helps. Drummer's playing just the right stuff, reverb ...

That picture is FANTASTIC!
I would totally frame that and hang it in our home.
Put it up next to this guy.

Could swear this was already a topic on here. But the only similar I can find is from over 15 years ago.
Here's one from 2014 that got some good hardware replies..

Basses, shmasses.... What about the voice of Geddy Lee? (how did it get so high?) Well, with his writing voice he sure filled in a lot of gaps in my bass knowledge. For example, did you know most ocean-going bass can be caught with fly fishing technique? I sure didn't. And the book has such wide ra...

Re: Complete list of Cassette Multi-Track Recorders and Portastudios

Per linked Reverb listing: The Studiomaster Studio 4 is a rare, top-of-the-line four track cassette recorder, made in England from the 80's. Not missing any parts! I couldn't find much information on this machine, but here is what I can tell you about it's features: •6 channel mixer •4 track record...

Re: Complete list of Cassette Multi-Track Recorders and Portastudios

There are also multiple versions of some models, such as the TASCAM 424 MK I, MK II and MK III. Of this series I'm partial to the MKII as it had the I/O accessible from the top. I use as little of the onboard electronics as possible. Totally! https://tapeop.com/interviews/19/some-4-track-cassette-t...

Here's a Tascam 688 being put to good use.

Here's a very good but primarily Tascam/Teac oriented cassette multitrack thread .
