This is a great price for this synth. If I didn't have too many little mono synths, I would get this in a heartbeat.

Thanks so much for the advice! Currently, there is a 5532 feeding into the ssm2142, but I plan on replacing all 5532s and 5534s with drop-in discrete opamps. Supposedly, the opamps can handle a 600ohm load. I'm trying to make one of my masters fully discrete. I'm not sure it will make a difference, ...

I have no connection to this item, but there is an 8x4 Amek BC 2 on ebay. It looks like it would work well for that application. I also like the sony mxp2900. It can be found for short money. There are also a bunch of small footprint discrete location mixers floating around.

I was wondering if I could bypass this chip and use a transformer in its place. If that's plausible, what transformer woul...

The Shure KSM44 is a really useful microphone. Getting two of these used wouldn't be too far above your budget. Having a good neutral pair of multipattern microphones would be a smart move when building a microphone locker. With that said, I would probably spend the money on a preamp and a few elect...

Does the 828 have mic preamps? If not, you need a microphone preamp.

you might want to try a placid audio copperphone or a bing carbon mic + plenty of spring reverb.

The 438a is a quirky beast, but i love it with acoustic gtr, vocals and drum room. It doesn't work on everything, as the compressor grabs oddly on stuff like female vox. I would love to get another.
