Are you sure about that? I thought that was the case when I loaded a few a year or so previous, but I had to uninstall them after they started saying "Demo Over" or some such stuff... Has their policy changed or sumpin'?

Re: the curve

I went for 7.4 with the free upgrade to 8 Is this a time constrained free upgrade (i.e., did you need to upgrade to 7.4 within a certain recent time period in order to qualify for free 8.0)? I have 7.4, but I bought that version soon after it came out. Might I qualify for the free 8.0, in any case?!?

Do you have to take any special steps to prevent phase issues, or are you saying that, inherently, phase issues aren't an issue in this process?

I had this problem back in 2004, DVDs were WAY too dynamic and would wake the neighbors upstairs. Plus I really didn't want to blow my speakers or my stereo. So I bought an Alesis Nanocompressor for $50, patched some adapters, and inserted between DVD player and stereo. The nanocomp isn't something...

Can you give more details? I've installed Ubuntu Studio and think it's great, but the audio apps aren't seeing my audio interfaces, etc., and the tech jargon is all Greek to me... What couldn't you get to work?

Compressor for watching DVDs

This might not even be the proper messageboard for this thread, but I like you'se all so much... I wanna hook an outboard compressor from the audio out of my DVD player, into the audio in of my TV/amp, because I'm sick and bloody tired of turning my TV's volume up and down when I watch a D...

What are the other "must-haves"? I'm not usually persuaded by shiny objects (and new GUI's). The new GUI is just the tip... The MIDI functioning has been upgraded to the modern age. There's Sibelius-like real-time scoring. 48 tracks for LE. Comping is now intuitive and quick, alla Soundtrack. Sessi...

I would seriously consider this, especially since your last post: http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1916 My band uses it to record practices, and the other songwriter and I have been blown away with the quality of the sound, especially if we're clever about it and pre-mix wit...
