Thanks for the info so far. I am using a RADAR from iZ Corp. The converters on this are excellent, so a mic pre with converters built in would be somewhat of a waste. I'm currently using the pre's in a Soundcraft board, but am looking to put everything into a rack now.

8 channel mic pre

I am putting together a 24 channel live recording rig, and looking for a decent 8 channel mic pre to use on the front end. Prefer a 1 or 2U rackmount, and a DB25 output is ideal, but not essential. Any recommendations in the $600 range, since I need 3 of them.

Thanks.

It's called "pop" for a reason. Most of it has a short shelf life and tends to go flat before too long. Not that it's all bad :)

If Signature doesn't fit into your budget, give Kyle a call over at Ampersand. He has a good room and a great rate.

Signature Sound in San Diego has a great sounding room and a wonderful mic selection. We have tracked drums there many times and have always been happy. Studio A has an API Legacy console. Blink 182, P.O.D. and Boxcar Racer have tracked here. As far as an engineer, we have always used Mike Harris. ...

Re: I am new and I have 1 Million Incredibly Dumb Questions

Well, it's late and I'm feeling punchy. I'll try a few of your questions. If your faders aren't somehow automated, how do you make multiple adjustments to them when mixing down? Is there some solution to this that doesn't involve growing extra hands? How do you use an external preamp? Do you simply ...
