Nashville ?

Hey this question goes out to the anyone who lives in Nashville, or has a lot of experiences in Nashville. I am being offered a possibly really cool position as house engineer for a really cool guy,who will go unnamed. I live in Detroit and have a tendency to lean more on the Liberal side of life. I...

It is not new that Digi/Avid got a jump on the pro audio world with their systems when computers were slow. But now that the computing power of my laptop rivals any HD3 rig running Logic or Reaper as far as functionality and plug-in count, it seems pointless for me to spend that kind of dough just t...

hoping maybe, but avid plays like apple in this case. they control their environment to make sure hardware behaves with software like they want it to. when it comes to my DAW i'm glad they do. I agree. But.... would they really be able to do automatic delay compensation if they weren't sure what ha...

Tape

I have a Radar 24 and I think that it sounds great! I am use to the work flow of both the DAW world and Analog tape and I think that the Radar is a great recorder. I tend to start my sessions going right to RADAR and then process certain tracks with tape on my Studer 1" 8 track once people are happy...

Probably M/S processing. When used to real extreme limits it can make things sound like they are way outside the speakers.

Download Brainworx Solo for free and have a really cool tool for widening things.

Try to track to tape and then transfer. Also consider mixing digital tracks to 2-track analog. OK, so this thread is exactly what I need. I've been planning on doing something like this, but I'm trying to figure out the difference between tracking to tape and then transferring to the digital realm ...

I am about to pick up 1" 8 track Studer A80 this is really going be sweet! Hmmm, the A-80 24-track is clear, but with 100 Hz calibrated to '0', 50 Hz is typically down two db. Aligning 50 Hz to '0' brings 100 Hz up two db and makes 50 Hz flat. Where do you want your bump? I wonder if this will be s...

Try to track to tape and then transfer. Also consider mixing digital tracks to 2-track analog. Yes, I am aware of these benefits. But in lots of cases people don't have the time or the money to track to tape,or I am moving around to different locations for overdubs. That's why I chose the RADAR for ...

Yes the time it takes to run it out then back in off of the repro head is much less time than trying to get things to sound good with Plug-ins. Tape seems to be the best De-essr that I have come across. I have mostly been running things at 30ips to keep tape hiss down. I do like How 15 ips sounds on...

Analog Tape Processing

I just mixed a project that I recorded completely digitally into Radar. I was curious to what effect Analog tape would have on the sounds of things on a per track basis. So I did a little experiment and ran tracks that I felt needed some love. Not to my surprise, everything that I ran to tape sounded...
