Another thing you might try is analyzing the arrangement of some favorite or classic songs. I started doing that here... this one is not finished:

The problem is, I have no friends in bands. To be brutally honest, I have 1 friend. I can't do any recording just yet, don't have the space or some of the equipment, but I have what I need to work on my own.

Re: Non-profit project label idea...
I agree very much with working with my own projects (label and recording) before working with other musicians, so yeah like I said, if I do this letting others in wouldn't be until down the road. As for the free-recording bit, I'm actually on both sides of the fence. The reason for this is I'm humbl...

Non-profit project label idea...
Before I get into this I want to state my motivations for this idea, and the reason I'm posting here is of course to see if my head isn't already up my ass and that I should be doing something else with my time, and your advice. I checked out a few label threads here, and a recording-for-charity thr...

Re: Windows XP question
For the upgrade, you'll need to install a Windows 9x OS first, then XP over it. I'm running XP Home upgraded from Win 98 and it's pretty solid, but then I don't use it for audio, I have my Powerbook for that... Building a computer is relatively easy, you just need to make sure you've cleared yoursel...

Re: fullsail topic
I considered this school a year or so ago, thought it'd be nice to learn what I really wanted to learn, and live in a beautiful state, and be near my mom. But even from the start when I didn't know much about audio or recording (I'm still rather new after over a year, I think) - I wasn't sure if thi...

This could get interesting if you have a portfolio and say some of your clients are big-names, but for some reason it didn't turn out that great. You either list that, yes you worked with ________, 10 time Grammy winner, though the album sounds like grating poo - or you bypass it altogether.

distorted - classic! Yeah thats some pretty bad art. But at least you didn't pick mine. :D I'm enamored by Lohan for some reason, but I'm upset that cookie-cutter-po(o)p like hers sells so much... I read a review of her album, with a funny line something like 'Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or a...

Re: Oh sure why not
I wasn't sure if I wanted to release this, but I most likely will not be using the song in it's demo form. It will probably be completely rewritten or just not used at all. It's also available at the redesigned site. The little noise in it is intentional, but probably not the best idea for a final r...

He said hard drive recording so I factored that into sound. I know HD's don't have a character sound. (Or maybe they do... oooh.)
