+1 on the hotcake. not super cheap though. but damn good. HELL YES! and it seems Paul Crowther will answer your emails and fix the thing if it breaks for as long as he's around, which has already been quite awhile. certainly can't say that for Boss or ProCo or EH. I love my hotcake. I love it so mu...

Jet Black, the drummer of the Stranglers will be 70 this year. Which means he was almost 40 when their first album came out. And he's still playing with them, which makes me feel not-so-old (I'll be 49 in a couple months).

According to the manual, each channel has a gain knob, right? You say you have the knob set to 0, right? The gain range for line input is -10 to +40, so if you have the knob set to zero, the gain is -10. You need to set that gain knob for the level you want.

I woke up this morning with the thought that I was needlessly cruel to Jerry Lee Lewis and John Fogerty in that post (above) yesterday. My point should have been that they looked and sounded dreadful trying to do exactly what they did in their 20s. I wish they would ditch the old songs about girls ...

the ratios will be right with a DI reversed Actually, this is not true- the ratios will be the opposite of what you want for re-amping. Passive di's step down the signal. For instance, a passive di with a jensen di transformer steps the signal down by a ratio of 12 (22 db). So a di in reverse will ...

Yesterday i had my first intern experience, I've had a job at a place that builds amps/stomp boxes for a week. I spent a good chunk of time yesterday troubleshooting some PCBs that the intern at my work had assembled. He works for free, so I guess we're getting what we pay for. It was also awkward ...

I bought one for $12 in 2004 (I think that exact model) and it sounds decent, however it is noisy. Hum in the output makes it unusable for me. Is this a simple cap job, or were these thing noisy to begin with? Jeff When I first got this, I tried to test it by putting it in my guitar signal path, an...

Sansui RA-500 spring reverb

So I recently bought one of these things with the intention of modifying it. One of the limitations of the unit is that you cannot get a "wet-only" output, and there is no wet/dry mix. So I got a schematic, and I figured out there IS a way to get a wet-only output without modification. What you do i...

lol better to ask, why dont any of the big hits have instruments in them? I get tired of hearing autotuned vox on top of some loop in the background, from some cheezy sample. yep thats a hit. So true. Also, it seems pop music these days is mostly about marketing a face and/or image. And it's hard t...

Alright, what the hell is going on with these guys? That's 3 posts I?ve read today in which @?,*???&? bags on everything More Space Echo says, with no apparent reason. I noticed that they joined the very same day; I smell an alter-ego here. Maybe a Jekyll and Hyde. jeff and i really joined on the s...
