re-tensioning ribbons is probably the scariest DIY thing I've ever done. I have a pair of the lollipop style Nadys that I restretched the ribbons and replaced the trannys on. The ribbon stretching is no fun but is sure makes a huge difference (as did the Lundahl transformers).

i have always thought it was odd that even though a huge amount of classical music and most art was/is produced through a patronage system that it's apparently a terrible thing to even think of using this model for modern music. Sure, the average rock band is hardly Mozart, but A) there were probabl...

also prepare yourself for the possibility that even if you're told you're going to get credit and gets the correct spelling of your name, you may still not be there.

i did something similar a couple days ago for a lead in to a vocal track... bussed the vocal to a delay/reverb (actually a space echo plugin... since i don't have a real one) and after the vocals stopped, cranked the feedback on the delay and then dropped the delay time, making the delay self-oscill...

they're just covering their own asses. if it's your own playing sampled and looped, don't sweat it. if it's someone else's, either clear it or go the Girl Talk brass balls route and say your use is "transformative" and therefore allowed under fair use.

Thanks Doug! I was hoping I might get some helpful tech tips like that. I found a site online that gave good information on how to maintain the mechanical elements, but it didn't give much electronic info.
