Well, I took out two sticks of RAM, nada. Exchanged the sticks I took out with the ones I left in, nada. At this point, I'm thinking that something in the OS is corrupt. I have no reason to think that other than that I feel like I tried everything else. Got to try install discs tomorrow and see if I...

I reset the PMU and that still didn't help. I tried to restart without the hard drive connected and got the ? folder icon, so that's as expected. I'm wondering if it's a RAM problem or a hard drive problem? I have 4 sticks of RAM in it now and I wonder which I can remove in order to try to see if it...

I reset the nvram like Mudcloth suggested to no avail.

I'll try the PMU, but I wondered if that is something to be afraid of, since Apple Support says that it's a "las resort". Will this do any major damage to my setup?

HELP! Mac G5 won't startup!

My Mac G5 running OSX 10.4 has suddenly gotten buggy in the last week or so, after moving it from one location to another. First, Firefox would suddenly quit now and then. Then Mail wouldn't start anymore. I get a bouncing icon for a second, then nothing. Cut to two days ago, I can't get it to boot ...

OT- Dog Lovers in Texas - I need your help!

Please forgive my totally off-topic post, but my family and I are getting desparate to find someone who can help us transport a rescued dog we are adopting from the Longview/Kilgore Texas area to a long-distance trucker who can transport her from Little Rock, AR to CT, where we will drive to pick he...

My fav cheapo pedal is the Nobels tremelo. I was nervous about the build quality. Board mounted pots seemed like they'd bust off in your hand. But it's been hanging tough in the pedal board for years. Very tweakable. Only thing it lacks is a full on/off pulse. I A/B'd it vs. a Diaz Tremadillo & pic...

Someone mentioned the Jekyll and Hyde. I have nothing but respect for the whole series of Visual Sound stuff. They're all worth a check if you're really trying out everything. I think they make great upsdates of all the great classic pedals. I also think that Voodoo Labs makes some great stuff for n...

1) Behringer AD300 Analog Delay . Yes. DM-3 style analog delay that sounds awesome. Less than $30. Really? Now that's interesting...I'd dismissed any cheap analog delay when I bought an Arion SAD3 because I love my SAD1s so much and the SAD3 sounded nothing my SAD1s. Very, very interesting...I'm go...

I can't say that I would consider the Behringer pedals reliable as they are made of plastic, have an AWFUL mechanism for changing the battery (a copy of the Digitech concept of two little buttons on the side of the switching plate that press in to lift it open, except you can't use standard guitar c...

Here's my background: Been collecting pedals since I was 9 (too long ago to mention) and I currently have 200+ pedals, cheap to boutique, not to mention that I've been DIYing/modding pedals since 1985. I've also been a staunch analog snob. Now for the part where I lose all my cool cred. BEHRINGER. I...

My guess is that it's some sort of DIY oscillator.

Thanks, Chris. Sure. Ask away. This forum is my favorite place on the internet to learn about the recording process. We're always learning something, no matter how experienced one might be.

When there is no budget for "real" mastering, this is typically what I do as well. Sometimes I use Peak, sometimes Pro Tools. It depends on how crazy I need to get with crossfades. A couple of important things to remember: Don't lightly compress or EQ just because. Don't do ANYTHING just because. Th...

Boston area tape machine tech?

I have a friend who is looking to have his Tascam MSR-16 1/2" 16 track machine calibrated and generally gone through. I've never had an anlog machine serviced, so I don't know who to suggest he take it to. I know of Alactronics, but that's really the only repair facility that I would think of taking...
