Re: Explain the difference between flanging and chorus.

getting more advanced.... with flanging, you can have positive or negative feedback, and either will have it's own sound. If the feedback is positive (in phase) with the effect, you will hear the flanging effect you normally hear with your average flanger pedal or preset on the multithingamabob. Neg...

Re: Explain the difference between flanging and chorus.

Flanging typically involves a delay of around 2ms or so, which modulates (the delay time changes) and is then blended back with the dry signal. With such a short delay time, what occurs is phase cancellation, which is what gives you that "whooshing" effect. If regeneration/feedback is added to the d...

Re: Anybody have this switch?

SPDT switches are cheaper and easier to find, though Radio Shack will NOT have anything resembling a heavy duty stop switch.

By the way, what is it doing in the circuit? This will tell you what kind of switch you can and can't use.

Smallbear will have what you need, I'm sure.

Re: Anybody have this switch?

That doesn't sound like a DPDT to me. It sounds like a SPDT with redundant lugs, no?

Re: Bucket Brigade delay...

The EH Deluxe Memory man is a killer analog delay. The chorus/vibrato on it is merely just an LFO modulating the delay time. It's my desert island pedal for sure. Just a bit of that modulation on a longer delay time and it gets gorgeously swirly. I second third and fourth the Ibanez AD202. As for ne...

Re: Ideas on tracking and mixing BACKUP VOCALS

Funny, of the hundreds of pedals we have at Tremolo, we don't have any DOD Performer series.... what's wrong with us? You laugh, my friend, but that is a very cool analog flanger, that is capable of a wonderful vibrato. And the Performer compressor isn't bad either! . Actually, i don't laugh. I was...

Re: Ideas on tracking and mixing BACKUP VOCALS

Rodgre-- Aphex Exciter and Dimension C? Dude, YOU ARE MY HERO!!! Next thing you'll tell me you're tracking through a DOD Performer Flanger 575 and a Radio Shack electret condenser! John. John, I forgot. It's actually a DOD 670 Flanger on the left channel, and an A/DA flanger on the right channel. I...

Re: 110 uses for an 1176

There's actually not much you can do with them. They're pretty crappy. You should chuck them in the dump. Actually, I'm going there tomorrow, if you want, I'll take them for you

Re: Ideas on tracking and mixing BACKUP VOCALS

ha.... I've tried for that Mutt Lange/Def Leppard thing a couple of times. I think I quintuple tracked each harmony track and added some Aphex Exciter and I might have even put a little Dimension C on it. On one hand I felt dirty doing it, but on the other hand, once I accomplished something like th...

Re: Ideas on tracking and mixing BACKUP VOCALS

When I want the backup vocal to sit back in a mix, I will often use an omni mic and face it away from the vocalist. Without having to mess with reverb and whatnot in the mix, tonally, it will sound like the vocal is behind the lead vocal.

I will often put high pass filters on backups too.

Re: Presonus Bluetube pre

Yeah, I've swapped out the tubes already, but I haven't tried swapping out the op-amps. It's ridiculous though. It's one thing to be a little noisy. Hell, any preamp is a little noisy when you crank the gain. This thing is just beyond noisy with the gain just slightly up. Even with nothing plugged i...

Presonus Bluetube pre

Has anyone ever figured out a way to make this pre useable? It is incredibly noisy and I haven't figured a way to fix it. As it is, it's unusable. The tone seems okay, but the noise is just ridiculous.

Any mods?

Re: Opinions of Laney Cabs?

I recall Laneys being well-made, which explains the weight. They're solid and if I recall correctly, have a nice thick tone. I'm not sure what they used for speakers though. If you don't like the tone, you can always change the speakers.

Re: reverse reverb anyone?

back before the computer was invented, you would take a track that you wanted to put reverse reverb (or preverb) on, say a vocal on track 10 of a 24 track. Say you have track 24 open to record onto, you would flip the tape backward and then send track 14 (which would be track 10 going forward) to a ...
