Topic: Mastering in Pro Tools LE 7.4.2, am I missing something?

When there is no budget for "real" mastering, this is typically what I do as well. Sometimes I use Peak, sometimes Pro Tools. It depends on how crazy I need to get with crossfades. A couple of important things to remember: Don't lightly compress or EQ just because. Don't do ANYTHING just because. Th...

Boston area tape machine tech?

I have a friend who is looking to have his Tascam MSR-16 1/2" 16 track machine calibrated and generally gone through. I've never had an anlog machine serviced, so I don't know who to suggest he take it to. I know of Alactronics, but that's really the only repair facility that I would think of taking...

I think you're referring to "SHUFFLE" mode in the top left corner of the EDIT window.

Click that and take out the snippet that you want to delete, and the rest of the track will close in the gap.

Doesn't "renowned" imply that at the very least, gear geeks like us have heard about it? Pretty much any device that uses standard 8-pin op-amps, dual or single, is fair game for "Burr-Browning" with newer, high-performance op-amps, so if that's what they mean by "renowned" then I might sell my old ...

I haven't tried the Line 6 Leslie modeler, but the two Leslies (Vibratone and horn/rotor Leslie) in the MM4 are not terrible, which leads me to think that the dedicated pedal is even better, which leads me to think that the Behringer clone you can buy for $30 is probably not bad at all. There is one...

If you're saving a data disc, it will save the files at whatever sampling rate they are made at, since you're not burning it as an audio CD. When backing up sessions that have been worked on for a while, with lots of versions, but I just want to back up the latest incarnation, I do a "save session c...

Don't forget the PAIA parametric EQ kit.

I've used it for many years and it served me well. Still not small enough to fit with a bunch of other stuff in a 1u rack though.

That CD and that song in particular are among my favorites. When that CD came out, I was in the middle of recording a band that by some circumstance sounded remarkably like Hayden. I was watching the Dynamite Walls video on Much Music and thinking to myself that the project I was in the middle of wa...

Where have I been for the last day? I couldn't agree more about "Magic Man." I even wrote an article about it last year. Check it out: http://worcesterite.com/mike-flicker-and-cool-heart-era Roger Great piece. Unmitigated dorkery alert: Sure that mini-moog wasn't a single track with two of the osci...

I can't recall who makes it, but I've seen Bjork using just such a device to key her string players for live shows. Behringer makes a $50 rack tuner with a built-in metronome that does the Knight Rider/Cylon LED sweep back and forth in tempo, but unfortunately, it's not syncable to MIDI, if you need...

I like it as a drum bus/mono drum mic squasher. My settings are attack fully counterclockwise, release fully clockwise, ratio on 8 and adjust the input and output to suit.

What output on the mixer are you using? Just making sure you're not plugging the speaker output into your soundcard!
