A lot of times I find myself tracking live guitars with the POD 2.0 For your POD- give this a shot, it made such a huge difference when I started doing this: Run your guitars through a DI and a good flavorful preamp, then reamp into the POD through the line-in feature, the difference is night and d...

Just so everyone knows the top row of the patchbay should be your outputs. Hmmm, I'd like to think the top row of my patch bay should be whatever seems most sensible to me. What is it that separates a pro studio from the rest of our studios? Sorry, there was certainly valuable information in your p...

This might seems wierd..... But depending on the mood and range this can be pretty effective. Set the mic sitting indian style on the floor. Try singing on all fours, or just kneeling. I find people are able to get more into it this way, including myself.. I dunno why, but performance-wise the diffe...

If it's the same comp on the twin trak it is admitedly a very decent comp for bass.. Still my favorite bass comp is a dbx160, it will sweeten up the lows and keep them tight, but the opti comp on the the twin trak is better at keeping the attack.

I get more realistic snare drum sounds out of my room and overheads than I do my snare mics. In fact the top head is hardly in my mixes at all, but I do tend to crank the bottom head to get it to cut through the mix. Ever since they popped up at my door step my bottom head mic has pretty much been o...

I'm not saying anything about anyones abilities, but keep in mind, a depeche mode/new order/nin-esque band is probably very electronic based, and capturing great sounds with sounds that were already well-captured doesn't require very much at all..

I love my 2-1176.. I'm not sure what was meant by the 'pinched' description either, but there is more noticable characteristic in stereo operation. I could be wrong, but what I'm hearing in stereo operation seems to take on the attributes of both channels parameters summed together, as opposed to on...

Someone once left a fart on my voicemail - sounded identical to that song.. Just add 'Woohoo' with some prepubescent girl singer and you got it!

I can't really compare it to anything. Pricewise, the preamp sits about where it should. It's quiet, and pretty clean. Not enough gain to push a ribbon mic on an accoustic guitar. but more than enough for most common applications. Not a lot of character, but not too dull. The compressor on the other...

If you just want to emphasize the kick it's a little time consuming, but just highlight and normaize all the kick hits.. I've done stuff like this, it doesn't take that long once you get involved.

Not for vocals... I like my twin track, I used it mainly for keyboards, and I've recently grown a passion for the compressor when it distorts on room mics, but other than that.. I dunno.. For great vocals at a low cost try the best preamp in your price range (maybe the latest in tapeop trend's: the ...

Jagged Little Pill really was recorded on ADAT's, but they were $2500 a peice at the time. I believe he used avalon pre's straight to ADAT... Hehe, Avalon, more junk gear, according to most people here. :)

5 Lb. Dumb Bells!!!!! Seriously! I walked into my studio this morning and found one of my new C414's passed out over a mess of cymbals. I wanted to cry, but it still looks and sounds like it did yesterday, so I'll survive. I just can't justify spending more as loads on mic stands when I could spend ...

In most opinions I've heard the Crown CM311A is the best thing out there. Couldn't tell you from experience, but very curious.

I understand the feedback rejection is unbelievable.
