Looking For Shrink Wrap Company (Seattle)

Hi, I dunno if this is the right space but... I'm coming out with a new version of a CD which has been out for 10 years. I have about 300 unsold copies of the old version of this thing which will -never- be sold--since the new version replaces it So the jewel boxes and artwork are still fine. Any su...

Attending mastering is key. How many 'tweaks' do you usually end up needing after mastering? If its more than a couple things maybe you should find another mastering guy or attend mastering. Attending mastering will make you a better mixer. It will also help you learn what can and can't be done in ...

Ya know... I tried exactly this approach for my last few projects. The first one went better than in the past. But then I've noticed that with each subsequent project, the turnarounds grow longer and longer... I keep coming back to the idea that when it's about the dough-re-mi it's 'all business', b...

Re: Client Expectations (Turnaround Times)

It's not impatience. OK, maybe it is... impatience at getting my mortgage payment over to Countrywide on time. First, I negotiate discounts on replication based on ganging together teeny little projects into something more substantial. Second, I try to get my fans to pre-order records---they l...

i'm confused, at some points you seem to be talking about mastering and other mixing. which is the problem? I guess, -both-. In either context I'm talking about where the engineer gets me 90+ % of the way there on the first pass and then, after I review things, I get, IMHO, double-dinged: 1. I have...

Client Expectations (Turnaround Times)

Hi, I guess I'm yer garden variety self-produced 'artiste'. Many/most of you I are the 'engineers'. I've been trying to get an ongoing relationship happening with an ME and it's been tough and I'd like to get your suggestions. (Caution, this may sound a bit like a rant, but I really do want some con...

Looking For CD Dupe Firm In Seattle

Hi, Until recently, I've been using Discmakers for duplication. They have an office in Seattle where we could pick up the product with no shipping costs. Recently, they moved all their manufacturing to NJ so they now charge for shipping whether we pick up or not. And that shipping charge is -expensi...

Thanks for the tips. Frankly, RFI is relatively -cheap- compared with any 'name' company I have worked with or heard about.

But regardless, this is my living, so it doesn't make sense to 'shop price'.

Again, thanks for all replies.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with Rick Fisher. He said all the right things and they're pretty convenient. I'll definitely stop by there and check it out.

Looking For: CD Mastering Seattle/Portland/Vancouver

Hi, I'm yer (I guess) typical self-produced 'artiste'. You'd call what I do 'prog' rock, I suppose. I've got 4 records and I'm nearing the end of my current stock. I have never been totally happy with the mix/mastering on any of them so I'm re-mixing them now and looking for mastering services in/ar...

I love Samplitude.

I still use Cubase sometimes, but only because it has better MIDI. If you're mainly going to do audio, Samp is -the- way to go, IMO. Sounds fantastic. Totally reliable. Logically laid out. Fantastic built-in FX. Great editing.

<HTH>

OK, so it -was- the Portico? I'm a bit confused as I -thought- recalled the reviewer gushing about how it sounded with bass guitar and yet when I look @ the picture @ the Neve site it doesn't indicate that it has a line input at all. Can someone please set me straight on the product reviewed and the...

Not sure. Don't recall if it was a genuine Neve per se. I seem to recall it was a combo preamp and DI.

There weren't -that- many reviews in that issue. Can you tell me -which- pres were reviewed.

THANKS!

in TapeOp #49?

It got such a glowing review, I wanted to give it a try but I can't find the issue underneath a blizzard of <ahem> hugely important papers.
