I was about to say Guided by Voices. If some of their early stuff isnt to crappiest sounding recordings then I don't know what is. What makes it lofi is they actually wanted that sound! (awful huh?) Also a new band I imagine would fall into this "category" would be the GO! Team. check them out if yo...

The directions were very good and even though I read it 20 times, looked at the pictures 100 times, I still managed to do everything wrong...

So it wasnt phase with another mic its immune to just with itself and distant room sounds? I don't use pzms much so I was a bit hazy about how they worked. And Omni's dont have a proximity effect if its a single capsule omni, if its omni by using two capsules (like many LDC) then it will still prese...

i bet your client is in love with the idea of his/her demo and not the sound. Its always worth trying something. If you have or can get your hands on some thicker tape to record on (like 1/4, or 1/2) that might be a better idea to liven it up for them. Just a thought.

Im new to recording metal as well and I can say listening to metal is a great way of getting your head around it. I have found a couple good bands that I would casually listen to even if it wasnt "homework". You really cant speak their language without knowing it, and the best way to learn is to lis...

eat ram meat. Metal is all about the raw meat. I know for a fact the baldfather consumes at least a pound of raw meat before each session. Thats how you get metal sounds. If your vegetarian raw veggie burgers are a close substitute.
