I have a very public and deep hatred for the SM57. I just never connected with it. I feel like there's ALWAYS a better choice. Totally fair. If a person doesn't have a connection with a particular tool then it's not the right tool. I get it. But often, I don't have many options and I've heard plent...

I can't hate a 57. It's probably never perfect but often plausible. It's the Honda Civic of microphones.

Yeah. It might not even happen at this point but we'll see. To be fair, I never saw myself as a teach but I was asked by a producer I've worked with who's handling the other part of the class so I'd assume he think's I could see it as something I could do. If it does happen it looks like really smal...

That's certainly true. Referring to PT as "a word processor of audio" isn't a terrible idea. I don't know what the demographics really are. In the pilot program they had mostly late teens with a 40 yo mixed in. I could be really random. It may all be moot at this point I don't know if they've had en...

Thanks guys. Some helpful stuff. @drumsound: yeah. That's how I was going to approach it. I'm going to try to keep anything I talk about in the beginning section going through out the whole class. Especially in the PT section. Like phase differences between a bass amp and bass di and when we talk ab...

Unfortunately, I don't know who the students will be yet. It's open to anyone. It's hard to guess motivation. I'm hoping to get some heads up on the makeup of the class before day one. I'm assuming it'll be people who have little to no recording background. I feel like I won't have much time to real...

I have a sort of standard powerpoint I've made - if you're interested, feel free to PM me your email and I'll send it to you. The first third is probably all that's relevant for what you'll be teaching, but it might be helpful for you...who knows? Thanks. That's very kind of you. I will send a PM. ...

You might want to mention purpose, employment, clientele and business issues? The old "who, what, where and when" as well as the "how". And I'd also mention the absolute importance of lava lamps. Yeah, that all makes sense but I still have to figure out how much time I have. The whole thi...

Teaching

So, I've been asked to teach some classes at a local studio. They have only had a pilot class so far so everything is up in the air. Right now I'm tapped to cover two sections. The first deals with audio basics and the other focuses on Pro Tools. Part of the problem is I only have four hours for eac...

I just want to add that despite the price these aren't bad preamps at all. And, I'm pretty sure there's an internal trim pot to get some more "tube" sound. $65 for a pair of utility preamps is a good deal. They're also light so they won't add much weight to a portable setup. Ok, they're not Neves or...

For the record the KM84 is cardioid and the KM85 is as well with a 100hz roll off. Is the 86 hyper? I'm pretty sure the 83 is omni. I wasn't trying to present anything groundbreaking. It just popped into my head and sounded like it could be an interesting setup to try. I've definitely don't the Bidi...

Ac Gtr/vocal idea.

An idea popped into my head a little while ago and in my mind it makes some sense but I dunno if it would work. Anyway, I was thinking about recording acoustic guitar and vocal at the same time and a mic arrangement occurred to me. Cardioid mic pointed to the vocal. Bidirectional mic right next to, ...

The EXPORT options are really only for exporting the audio. So it seems to me. I didn't see any options for video. I got it to YouTube but he made me take it down before he would even see it, because if it's published at all, even just by YouTube, it runs the risk of being disqualified from Sundanc...

Is quicktime pro still a thing? I thought it ended with QT7.

Did you take a look at the Export options under the File menu?

Automator might have a workflow built in already that could help.

In the end I think it shouldn't be that much of an issue to send the video with audio.

Re: Bouncedown or share a video/audio project in Pro Tools 1

I have imported a quicktime file. It has both video and audio. Then I recorded more music on top of that movie file. Now I want to show it to the director. How do I do that? The bounce to Quick TIme worked. But I can't seem to get it into a form that I can share it. I have tried We Transfer, Dropbo...
