Cut out the 'dreck' by finding the 'ugly spots' with a parametric... sweeping around with a narrow Q boosted way up until you find the ugly/noisy bits, and then cutting that frequency a bit. ive fooled around with this approach a little bit but it hasnt really clicked with me yet. is it better to d...

I like the warbly sound of slack strings.. But, another choice besides baritone is to string the guitar with types/guages meant for the lower tones, i.e., a 'd' string where the low 'e' would be. My friend strings his that way for the lou reed 'ostrich' sound and it seems to work ok.

"Don't go chasing waterfalls...." Get's me everytime. I do a pretty mean stupid whiteboy dance to that one. You mean the tune they ripped off from McCartney II ? edit: hadn't seen Mjau's post. Are we making the same point, or did the ladies actually credit McCartney? 'Cause I was under the impressi...

Another vote for the old man answer..

If you spend some time with a mic up and headphones on as you play, you'll find the best way to adjust for the result you're looking for.

The best advice is to get there and be prepared to actually deliver something with conviction. if you've 4 tracked most of the songs or otherwise have 'listened back' to them, then you should have all the confidence you need to whip them into shape and get them really good. Otherwise, you're sunk an...

'psychotic reactions and carburator dung' - Lester Bangs 'feels like going home' - Peter Guralnick 'lipstick traces' - Greil Marcus 'really the blues' - Mezz Mezzrow 'up and down with the rolling stones' - Tony Sanchez I don't know what I'd think of them now.. but, I liked 'em well enough at the time.
