Re: acoutsic 6 stringers, Martins in particular ?

A D28 is killer guitar, but they'll only go for $3k if they're a vintage Brazilian Rosewood version. The new ones, which have been made of Indian Rosewood for ages now, go for just over $2k new. The HD28 is closer to $2500 The HD-28V is their "vintage series" version of the HD-28, it has a differen...

Here's the standard RCA version http://www.tube-amp.de/6SL7-riaa/rca-manual.gif Calls for a 7025 but I read somewhere that it specs out slightly better with 6SL7's. Worked great for me. I just harvested a crapload of 6SN7's from an organ a friend of mine was throwing away. Would this be a good use ...

oooohhh, there are such worse records out there than that! ;)

I'd like to hear a fake-out intro where everything is looped, time-aligned, replaced and autotuned, then it kicks in to actual recorded music.

It would be a good Christmas present for me to see that ad online with the word "case" removed.

Actually I am ambivalent about GH, I just hate anything that's popular. So sue me.

If you are desoldering and removing a wire from something like a plug or a pot terminal, don't pull the wire towards your face. I've gotten hot solder splashed in my eyeballs a couple time and its no fun. ALWAYS wear safety glasses while desoldering, unless you're a fancy pants with a desoldering i...

I always felt ... when i backed the gain off you can hear the difference in sound/tone.... Just a thought - this is sort of an auditory illusion. Lower volumes tend to hit us as sounding weak or thin. It may seem that the mic pre has a better tone at a higher gain, but often the tone will be the sa...

Yes.

I'd suggest using the Search function and looking them up by specific model.

This is what you want. It's an attenuator with a line out, so the line out comes after the power tubes and functions even with the attenuator bypassed. It also has tone controls for the line out, which I would recommend, as line outs, even post power tubes, don't sound that great without some EQ, i...

the RIAA contends that ripping CDs leads to "viral" copyright infringement; a single disc can result in millions of copies if shared through a peer-to-peer service, the brief claims. Wow, interesting jump from putting a CD on your iPod to becoming a potential file sharing criminal. I guess if they ...

Yeah, who knows? Maybe it's a quality control thing or a bug they worked out later? Curious that yours seemed quiet with high gain on a 57, that's where mine was really noisy.

I think it's a Euromix 602A. It's a 35 dollar piece, so it's not like I had a right to expect anything more from it.

and wouldn't transformers introduce just as many non-linearities as blocking caps? Yup! I can understand the desire to use fancy topologies, but when you look at all hte fantastic gear that uses "mundane" (for lack of a better word) topologies, it falls to the side I think. Blocking caps didn't hur...
