How about balancing two songs against each other for continuity? ...I A/B tracks between songs all the time to help build a mix that translates throughout the album. Lately, I have been working with multitrack location recordings from different dates (different settings)...access to multiple session...

With Harrison Mixbus, it is very easy to get great sounding mixes and so far it's been virtually impossible for me to overload the system and drive it into digital clip/crap. My aggrevation comes from a large work load of projects and the unavoidable inefficiency I discovered in Ardour. I'm used to ...

"You can save "as" and will be saved in snashots tab." That is not good enough. I needed to change the name of the song, so I wanted to "Save As" to give a file name that matched the song title...this is a basic function that can not be done on the current version...it does seem like an elementary f...

I was ramping up to use Mixbus fulltime for mixing/mastering, but after consulting with Harrison directly, I've determined that there are some basic functions or operating parameters that aren't ready for primetime...Namely, you can't "Save As" a project (that was very surprising); also, I was going...

GS has self fabricated experts and I've found it wrapped up in some sort of pissing contest (well, at least the location recording sub-forum). I have managed to deprogram myself from the urge to visit GS. This forum generally doesn't get bogged down by narrowed minded "my way thinkers" that mire GS....

Don't rule out this little bad boy http://www.coutant.org/evpl9/index.html the Electro-Voice PL9. Got an excellent drum sound on a cassette recording around 1990 and have been hanging onto the mic ever since!

I like it. It has detail. I have a Lynx II soundcard in my studio DAW for comparison. The USBpre2 has many I/O options. The other unit I would consider is the Lynx Hilo.

I picked up a Yamaha MT400 this year- it's a fun machine. I am impressed with it (I did use Peluso mics into Grace 101s as the front end)... Good luck.

I have one of those American 32*8 Mackie's as well. I suspect it is going to be very difficult to find anyone that has used both. But then again, it's a big world...good luck! If you can afford it, buy it...I'd love to be able to stockpile old mixing boards that are being sold for pennies on the dol...

I saw the R***** reference on the Motunation Forum and it kind of disgusted me. That forum seems a bit eliteist. I see Reaper mentioned and discussed freely on the Samplitude Forum...completely different airs between the two forums. I thought I was going to enjoy Digital Performer on the Apple platf...
