I dunno, I've still got some CAD E100 mics and still love them for certain things. Yep. I've got 4 of them, but two have recently died. Even with new rechargeable batts in them.. nothing. Also Symetrix 501 (toggle switch) still using often Effectrons, two of them, use them all the time DOD spring r...

Also found some releasable zip ties and a steel shelf for making a new pedal-board (see here ). The guitarist in a band I play in doesn't have casters...

Good info everyone.

My late 2011 macbook pro is running 7.5.5 and does have a thunderbolt port. I've never used Thunderbolt? I'll look into that.

I ALWAYS go to an external drive. It's worth it on speed alone. I'm pretty sure their internal drives are still 5400RPM, unless you're on an SSD obviously. I've always gone FW over USB on my Macs, but with USB3 that should be less of an issue. These days I go FW for interface, and USB for drives. K...

Bear with me for not knowing the details of your reasoning to keep PT9...but if updating is an option I would say that PT12 performs way better in my experience once you get the stupid bs out of the way (new Ilok, Aax). I begrudgingly made this transition and despite the expenses incurred, I have n...

Going Mobile w/Pro Tools 9, Macbook 2.2 Intel Core i7 10.7.5

Hey all. I'm losing my studio space of 6 years in 60 days. I'm going through the many options I have to continue on. I'm wanting to put together a mobile rig so I can at least go to bands and offer rehearsal space demos, location tracking, etc. I have a Macbook Pro, 2.2 Intel Core Processor i7, 4 gb...

I just ordered a CAPI VP28 kit with GAR2520's. I really like the idea of an API preamp with an output fader. That's on my list as well. I'm really impressed with it. I prefer it to my API 3124+ (which I've sense sold) and the racked up sextet of vintage API 312's we have at the studio. The output t...

bump. Still at $450

also interested in trades. I need a bass amp (head) something loud and reliable, ex. GK 800rb or similar. Also interested in 500 series gear, mostly pres or comps.

Thanks.

Ordered another CAPI VP28 kit and a used Focusrite 2802. Really excited to add analog summing and a control surface for mixing at home. I'm surprised it's not more popular...I think when it was sold by Audient is was maybe too expensive and now that it says Focusrite people shy away from it? I don'...

I traded for a very nice Soundtracs Topaz 24. This is the second Topaz I've owned and I am very glad to have another. For the money, these consoles really sound great! I won't be replacing the Topaz again. Last time, I got a Ghost afterward and it was great but overall I think I prefer the Topaz. S...

If you don't feel a large blast of air on the back of your hand where you're putting that mic, it should be fine. However, since you bought the mic used, there's a good chance that the ribbon has stretched. Jon at Shiny Box will repair these. (He does Beyer M260sm as well, but not M160s.) I haven't...

Reminds me of Red House recording studio that was in Lawrence, KS. Eventually moved out of the red house it was in originally, but kept the name... then to be renamed Black Lodge in the early 2000's.
