I love my NT5s.... drum overheads and acoustic guitar is what I mostly use them for. Also percussion (djembes, hand drums, etc).

I'd look really hard at the Rodes with the new diaphragms, like the K2. Or for that matter, you could get a pair of the NT2As, which has the same diaphragm....

Greetings, I find the ART TubePAC to be surprisingly serviceable for a lowend unit. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any DIY mods to improve the sound. I agree that separation is overrated. What I'd do is spend time using several microphones to pick up the performer, whatever he/she is doing.
