Henry Mancini's theme from "The Great Impostor." It would just set things off in a Wes Anderson sort of way.

I like them JJs. I've got a pair of JJ 6L6s in my Bassman - they sound fine.

why is it always the bass player that's the recording geek?
The guitarist tells him what to play, and the drummer tells him when to play, so he's got more free time to think about other things. Also, he's trying to make himself more useful to the band.

Make a scary Halloween soundtrack with your kids!

This is an awesome recording project to do with your kids. I set up the mics and they performed. First pass was them making scary noises for about 8 minutes. I pitch shifted their voices down at least an octave and added tons of reverb and echo. They did a second pass adding synth sounds and drum ma...

Pure Prairie League - Bustin Out
Some harsh boosting on the top of the acoustics make it unlistenable. I might have to remaster this one for myself.

I know you can phase test a 4x12 by putting a 9V battery across a speaker cable connected to the cab. All 4 speakers should extend the same way (all in, or all out depending on polarity.)

I have one of those amps - they rock. They're pretty damn beefy in the transformer department. I think they'd be fine with a 50% mismatch either way (4 or 16 ohm cabs).

I'd agree that the room should sound really good. I've had some good results incorporating my MXL R144 ribbon mics. I've used them in mid-side and blumlein setups. If I was serious about it, I'd also experiment with a reflective piece of wood on the floor between me and the mic.

The snare sound reminded me of Al Green's "Call Me" and "Have You Been Making Out OK" Kinda big and dopey - but in a good way.

I'm with Garges - mix the bass to one track and have L/R drum tracks. You can pan them up the middle if you decide you want mono, or you can mix for stereo.

The band is amazing and Sam's music even on 1 mic is a great listen.
There you go. Don't doubt what you know. Throw up more mics if it makes Sam feel better, but in the end, to quote Julia Child: "You are alone in the kitchen and nobody can see you."
