actually, I was just planning on winging it like every other instrument I know how to play. maybe a few lessons for technique at the start would be a good idea - I guess you can pick up some bad habits at the start. I will introduce myself on the forums and see if I can put something together. Maki...

Calexico/Iron and Wine - In the Reins

i love this album. sweet, sweet drum sound (brushes!), nice live feel. but how do you get such quiet vocals in a live setting? great songwriting we've come to expect from Iron and Wine, but with a bit more soul/groove than we are used to. great sounding album.

I forgot the main thing that I wanted to ask.. Like I was saying, I'm going to build a house for this little bitch.. most likely 1 10" or something.. where can I find some recommended cabinet demensions for different size speakers? I think I remember most of the speaker sites giving giving specs fo...

i too am going with Clarion. havn't had to file a claim though, hope i never do. i used to have renters insurance from Travellers but they dropped me specifically because i had 'home studio equipment' listed on my policy. sketchy, to be avoided.

Re: DIY project: The Mint-box Piezo Buffer

On my To-Do list - get some piezo elements and experiment. You can even use the ones inside $3 Radio Shack piezo buzzers, although I wonder what the sound quality is like. the other guy in my band has a really cheap ibanez acoustic that sounds incredible, that came with a pickup built in. it has al...

Re: Motu 24 I/O & DP

i'm using the 24i/o with logic on a windows pc, and so far i'm very pleased with it i don't have any other converters so i have no point of reference to say if they sound better or worse than anything else. my one complaint is the converters tend to clip very easily, so you have to be very very care...

Re: favorite obscure covers!??

Mark Kozelek aka Red House Painters aka Sun Kil Moon does awesome covers, reconstructing familiar songs into his own. he's covered McCatrtney's silly love songs, yes's long distance run around, that paul simon song "i am a rock, i am an island". he did a whole album of acoustic ac/dc covers.

Re: Home Playback System?

i have a pair of B&W DM602's and i think they are amazing, especially considering they are $600 a pair new. i use them with a pair of McIntosh MC30 tube power amps, and it sounds super sweet. the amps really create a 3-dimensional quality to the sound. and the whole set up cost me the same as a pair...
