differences between nuendo and cubase?

a friend told me that nuendo and cubase sx use the same "audio engine" (i'm using quotes because i don't know what i'm talking about), and that the main difference is cubase's lack of video-oriented features. I'm interested in using a DAW for mixing, and heard that nuendo was good for this. is this ...

Re: Isolation Headphones: Reccomendations?

i remember reading the review that mentioned the 7506, and i think it was talking about the extreme isolation brand. i'm not sure, though. i think i'm going to swallow my qualms with the word "extreme" and check out a pair.

Re: I need a QUIET guitar EQ stomp box.

These may be things you've already considered, so I'm sorry if this ain't helpful. what are you using it for? it could be the eq curve you're using. if you're using it to boost highs, for example, try boosting the highs a little less but cutting the lows some to compensate. also, you may want to put...

no, the routing is fixed. it has spam, but to get the pita you need the "world beat" data card. as for the spinach, you might have to go analog.

j mascis tackled this problem, i believe. his publishing co. name is "spam as the bread."

Re: WTB: Soundcraft Ghost, 1/4" 2-track, sandwich

thanks, i think i'm going to end up going with the Line 6 Deli modeler. 8 breads, 10 meats and 7 vegetables. you can only set it on one condiment at a time, though. I just figured it'll be more reliable than a vintage unit.

Re: Elco Connector adapters

i got my pin extraction tool from digi-key for like 49 bucks. it makes things a lot easier. the insertion tool doesn't seem so important. as was stated before, there's only one piece that differentiates male and female ends, so you should be able to sex-change it for not much moola. i did it when i ...

WTB: Soundcraft Ghost, 1/4" 2-track, sandwich

I'm looking for a Soundcraft Ghost, non LE, 32 channels, preferably with cabling/tt patchbay.

I'm also in the market for a good 1/4" 2-track machine.

thanks!

Re: cleaning mackie pots

if you want to clean a pot w/spray, you're going to need to get at it from underneath. there's usually a hole in the round body of the pot where you can spray in the deoxit and turn the knob back and forth a few times to spread it around. I think if you just take the knob off and spray it on the sha...

Re: how to mic an upright bass?

Brian Beattie once told me to mic the (bass's) right shoulder where the front meets the side with a condenser. i haven't tried it, but i trust brian's advice. i guess you'll need plenty of gain. if it doesn't work, don't blame brian; i may be recounting the method wrong. happy new year. michael crow

any opinions on soundcraft dc2020?

Has anyone out there had any experience with the Soundcraft dc2020 mixer? Iwas loking at one on eBay and it looked like it might be a good/convenient upgrade from the Sundcraft 600 I currently use. I can't seem to find anyone who's used them, though.

thanks!

Re: Favourite fuzz box?

I bought a Sam Ash Fuzzz Boxx (pronounced "Fuz-uz-uz Box-ux", i guess) for $15 eight or so years ago and love it. it kind of straddles the line between fuzz and distortion, flavor-wise, and the actual tone depends on the humidity, day of the week, shoes i use to step on it, relationship to magnetic ...
