Akai DPS to Protools

Anyone out there export files from an Akai DPS24 into Protools? Can it be done and if so how? I don't have a manual for the Akai so I'm kinda flailing about.

AT3035 vs KSM's

Oh yeah...my other thought was to save up more $$$ for some Shure KSM series mics (ie KSM 27, 32 or 44) How does the AT stack up against them?

AT 3035

Howdy all:

Does anyone out there have any thoughts on the Audio Technica AT3035 LDC? I've been using 414's, U87's and TLM 103's on vocals & room mics for quite some time & I'm looking for some new flavors.

Re: better cab sounds

I'm a very big fan of the low wattage amp. I highly recomend the Gibson Skylark GA-5 or GA-5T. The tremelo on the old Skylarks is AWESOME. They're a bit pricey for a small amp (apx $200-250 on Ebay) but they're worth it. Also, check out a Gibson Falcon. Great verb and tremelo. Oh yeah...the Skylarks...

Check out www.soniccircus.com. There's a really cool API 16 chanel sidecar that's wired for 8 bus outs. 32K....but it is 16 channels of API.

M-Audio Speakers

Anyone out there using the M-Audio BX5 speakers? Any thoughts on these. I'm looking for a pair of powered monitors in $300 range.

Re: Favorite Boundry Mic technique?

I used to love the small Crown PZM's on piano. I'd either tape them to the lid of the piano or I'd slide them under the piano strings & let them sit on the soundboard of the piano. I also like them on acoustic bass. Just lay it at the peg of the bass (carefull they don't put the bass on it). Lot's o...

Re: how do i fix this bad guitar tone?

You may want to check out www.guitargeek.com. You can see the stage set ups of most of the heavy bands out there. Mind you...these are stage set ups...not recording set ups.

Re: how do i fix this bad guitar tone?

Sounds like your pickup selector is shot or the connections to it are gone. That's a big part of the muddiness problem. It sounds to me like your guitar player is stuck on the neck position pickup. That pickup has the most low end/muddy tone. Definitely take the guitar into a shop for repair. Have y...

Re: Monitor Cobbler : Will this work?

Yeah, the KRK's are cool but I've found them a little hyped for my taste. Best to go to a GC in your hometown (or someplace that has a bunch of monitors) and listen to a bunch of your own CD's. Bring stuff that you know well and take a good listen to each of them. Y'know, you might even want to chec...

Re: Monitor Cobbler : Will this work?

I'd ditch the intergrated amp and go with just a straight up amplifier and an independent speaker switcher. I think you'll find that your crappy Aiwa speakers may sound better....then again you might blow 'em up too. As for monitors..check out some Alesis passive monitors. They're OK and kind of che...

And I always thought that silence was golden. Anyway, the Meek mic's look alot like the ADK SDC's but without a pad or roll off.

Joe Meek Mics

Has anyone checked out the Joe Meek line of microphones? There's a few of them up on Ebay...decent deals with cables & stands. One could say for that amount of $$$ anything is worth it.

Re: Shure SM 51

I used a Sanken Lav on an upright bass last week. I cliped it under the bridge & it sounded pretty cool. Good definition of attack and pretty decent over-all sound. Not tacky like a piezo pickup. Mixed that in with a KM84 and vavoom....

Re: Shure SM 51

Thanks Thunderboy....that looks like the mic alright. I wonder why the seller thought it was a condencer mic? I dunno...hopefully it will sound "cool".
