Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

2016 Ric bass (4003S) in midnight blue, recently off of ebay. In great shape (unlike myself)!
On a friend's recommendation, I stuck Rotosound swing 66 strings on it.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

A Focusrite Saffire 18i8 interface (Alesis io26 intermittenly crapped out and/or wasn't supported by the last several OSX upgrades. Alesis is on my shit list for their "upgrade/update" policy on that one). More recently, a Marshall "Regenerator" chorus/flange/phase/step phase (a cool sample and hold...

I always wanted to learn, "Mandocello".
That would be a little harder to do the "right" way, it looks like the tuning is unisons - CC GG DD AA.
Maybe restring a 12 string guitar and leave some strings off?

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Got an 8 string bass from ebay last week, for under $300 and hard case as well, new strings and working battery. An ESP "Frank Bello" model FB-208. I'm way more of a Cheap Trick guy than Anthrax, but the latest model Tom Petersson endorses is $12,000. Now to learn to play the thing ... https://i.img...

Always wanted an udu drum, and I finally got one! It's a Meinl, made of mango wood. They only made those for a few years. It doesn't have the ringing quality of the clay ones... not better or worse, just different. I like it. Then, shortly after getting that, I was walking home and saw some stuff t...

... so I hit the right ones mostly. Quite an assortment of inexpensive and not, there. Yeah, I'm not $2,000 fretless bass good, but I don't feel too bad blowing $150 or whatever the Rondo was (except the truss rod seems shot). Friend inherited the old Dano amp, first time I'd played with "amp...

We got ours in, 10th RPM Challenge year for us, although I only got around to one of "my" songs. I almost always am sick this time of year, my vocals are even worse than usual. My friend inherited a marimba, and rounded up another guy to play tenor and bari sax, fun stuff! I had to put post-it notes...

The Ubass I bought a few weeks ago had defective electronics. Rather than replacing same, they just had me return the whole unit. So I bought a fretless Ubass offa the Ebog, new, for US$90, and it works 8) What a weird feel to the strings ... I assume it has those black strings, probably still easi...

A set of Seymour Duncan Triple Shot pickup mounting rings. Built in switches, I'm going to put my (previous buy) P Rails in them, another couple of switches on push/push pots to get phase switching and series / parallel between the 2 double coils. And probably end up just using 2 sounds out of the t...
