Re: sync MS 16 and Yamaha 4416...how to???

What can the 4416 chase? If it can chase MTC (MIDI time code), then it's not too hard to do. A box like a JL Cooper PPS (cheap on Ebay) should do it...it'll print timecode to a track on the MS16, then read it back, and turn it into MTC for the 4416 to follow. That's assuming the 4416 can follow MTC....

Rhythm Section available in Denver area.

Trying to pull a new band out of the ashes of the old one... We're a drummer and bassist with a guitarist who's decided the band is taking too much of his time away from other things, so we're looking for something new. We're into old-school punk/alternative music, and are looking to explore some ne...

Re: build spring reverb schematics/plans- wanted

Oh yeah, also built a 3' x 6' homemade plate reverb. Sounded much better than the spring. Used a "turn a door into a speaker" driver and a barcus berry acoustic guitar pickup returned to a channel. Do you have any recommendations for finding a "turn a door into a speaker" driver? I'd live to give o...

Re: Analogue desk automation packages

My desk is fitted with JL Cooper MAGI II-i. It consists of several pieces, but they work together reasonably well...I was thinking it was going to be old & clunky, but it works better than I expected. It's got a pan underneath the console with the VCAs, which hook up to the channel faders, a brain u...

Re: TASCAM MS-16?

1. How often does it seem to need to be calibrated/aligned and serviced? That's a hard question. If you're religious about the alignment, then it never needs more than a nudge here and there, which might take 10 minutes. If you only do it every 100 hours of use, then you'll add up all those accumul...

Re: source for soundcraft 600 parts?

you ever swap out chips in yer 600? it's good to find other folks with the same thang. I've only replaced chips as others have died. No upgrades yet. There are a couple of things that make me nervous about it: the power supply will need upgrading if I want to add too many high grade opamps, and the...

Re: source for soundcraft 600 parts?

Hey, I'm another 600 owner looking for a few spare modules. Maybe there are enough of us that we could buy a console on the cheap and part it out? I've found some replacement fader caps at Mouser.com, made by Rean. They're not an exact match, but they work a lot better than the worn out old ones, th...

Re: Chrome

Half Machine Lip Moves is a favorite of mine, too. It's got the best balance of the really freaky stuff from Alien Soundtracks, and some of the more rocking stuff they got into later. Beware of any albums that say "Featuring Damon Edge" on the cover, because they aren't the same Chrome! I think a lo...
