new mic

So, I've been tracking with this for 2 days now. So far have it in front of drum kit as a room mic. My impression after 2 days of use is that I love it!!!! I have it sitting about 5' in front of the kit about rack tom height and angled down a bit to the kick drum. I'm running it to a Seventh Circle ...

New Mic

So, I have a Soundelux u195 coming UPS overnite tomorrow. Used one in a session I sat in on last week and loved it on male lead vocal. Starting a 10 day session tomorrow so I ordered one from my local store (Norm's Music in Brooklyn). I've heard that this mic has a lot of other uses besides vocal. A...

Maybe we could do a tracking session with a band. 1 song, start to finish. That would be awesome.
I was thinking the same thing. I'd definitely be in again if that were the case.

I've been doing this since I was using ADATs. Now i have 2 hd24s. When you're working alone punch mixing is great. It's like having 5 extra sets of hands. You can stop, do a bunch of fader moves, change eq or effects and punch in the next part and it is seemless. I always leave 2 tracks open for mix...

Otherwise, 100 or 120 Ohms is MUCH to low to use with modern equipment.

So Brian, do you recommend going with the 6k resistors?

Thank you Professor. I really can't believe it's just that simple. I'm gonna get started on this tomorrow. I'll be looking up the parts in my Mouser catalog.

Strated this in another thread on gear questions. I'll keep it short here. Looking to get a box that allows me to combine multiple sources to a single track. I found this post on the old forums. Sounds like it's exactly what I need. Is this design good? It seems really simple without a lot of nonsen...

Combining different sources to one track?

Ok, here's my situation. I have a shitty mixer. (Mackie 32x8) That's just the way it is for now, I make due. I've been putting together mic pre's so that I can bypass the board to tape. So, wired directly to my HD24, through patch bays, are 8 channels of sca (4-n72's and 4 a12's), 4 channels of syte...

Question for Joel Hamilton

Hey Joel, have you ever thought about doing any recording workshops like the ones Larry Crane does. You always seem to go out of your way to offer advice to anyone that has a question. And your answers never come off as being a "know it all". I know I appreciate it it as I'm sure everyone one else h...
